It would be quite funny if we start colonizing planets and satellites and we need to work the land, plant vegetables and gather resources manually.

While in earth everyone would live in virtual fantasies, the colonists would be comeback to a rural environment, but in the space!

In a imaginary world when everyone was really creative and able to work hard in their worlds, that could be fantastic, but I doubt creating full worlds is easy enough so everyone can try it, is not the same.

But is true we are changing, at some time in the future there could be people that actually live at internet. The real world, from a professioal viewpoint, is about providing service, and something as this can create services no one could have imagined before...

I must say all this is getting very sci-fi, wonder where we will be in ten years.

For a while I thought this was where Google were going with SketchUp and Google Earth. The way that they tried to get the world to, well make the world, for them instantly made me think that the next step was letting them populate it.

We all knew that SL was just the first type of a new species right? If only by that old yardstick of 'one of the first things to exploit a new type of media is porn' wossname.

The wikification thing was bound to be taken up by something and someone more mainstream. There must be dozens of metaplace-alikes in the works in secret. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first grow-your-own MMO system built for browsers, but then google wasn't the first search engine.

As someone who has a kinda-background in playing MU* stuff, there's part of me which - despite myself - is very interested in this.
