Ahhhh ETQW, fun game, but one that I ultimately just lost interest in.

I was ranked third in melee kills at one point...lol. Have thought about going back, but don't see it happening anytime soon.

Ah, poor Garth.

Can't play with the big dogs, eh? Why'd you spend so much time on the Beta and Demo then?

As for the forums, thanks for the flame. Only people who post idiotic comments get 'the treatment', same on most decent forums. Players who post constructive, well thought postings get decent and polite replies.

Guess that wasn't you, though. Flame in, get flamed.

I saw one reply that somewhat mirrors how I feel, but did anyone else feel this game was totally underwhelming? I played the Betas, and then the demo, and then cancelled my pre-order. It's just so... boring. I would say, without exaggeration, that 75% of my deaths are in my own spawn. Probably higher than that. The maps are terrible, and that surprised me, as Splash Damage has made fantastic maps in the past.

When it came down to it, the game offered nothing I wanted, and added a lot I didn't.

As a slight aside, I would recommend anyone considering this game stay the fuck away from the forums. That is the worst community I've ever dealt with -- and I've played in almost every HL FPS mod ever. They are ravenous, and any mention (even negatively) of the Battlefield series sets off some kind of tantrum reflex.

Hah!
I used to play in the same Teamfortress clan as Paul.
Earthquakers [EQ]; I remember when he came into the team he was using the keypad to move and he had to STAND STILL to throw grenades 'cause he had the gren key bound to a letter.

Also what he doesn't mention in this interview is his wilderness years playing Everquest [which I'm sure is where RTCW:ET and QW:ET's whole ExP level up malarky stems from]

Boy done good though :)

Damn that was long time ago.

Good story.. BUT..

Enemy Territory Quake Wars is 1990's fun. What a bore to me and my friends. Not to mention a WASTE of good money. Splash Damage was too busy picking nick names than putting together good software.

It seems like plenty of modders are hired, it's just that far fewer mod teams end up being a commercial entity. Those that do, I shall profile here.

Inspiring stuff. I'm surprised that more developers haven't emerged from the mod scene in this way, although maybe they have and just aren't as high profile. Or perhaps Splash Damage just hires them all. ;)
