After getting in the beta, had to buy it when the retail was released. It came out several months ahead o’ schedule, but you wouldn’t be able to tell. Both campaigns have been a lot of fun and the new armies play completely differently from vanilla CoH. I am happy to say that there is no “pip, pip, cheerio” or anything like that. We have a group in our office that all bought OF on the first day to start running LAN games.

I loved Total Annihilation.

Supreme Commander left me very cold indeed, though. Which was a massive disappointment to me.

Since playing Company of Heroes it has become the benchmark by which I judge any other RTS, and if it weren’t for the entertaining Joe Kucan as Kane in Command and Conquer 3, I don’t think I would have bothered to play any other.

Supreme Commander being the exception of course… the ‘spiritual successor’ to Total Annihilation had its place reserved long ago, and needed only to show up to the party to be ushered past the velvet rope.

I’m definitely getting OF.

Mainly for the multiplayer, as CoH’s multiplayer component sucked me in for most of the past year.

It’s a nice review, good work! CoH is still in my must-buy-at-some-point list. I’m not usually into RTS games, but from all the reviews I’ve read it sounds like I will still enjoy it. This version of the game is probably not for me though. Thanks to the PCG Top 100 I decided to pick up Red Alert 2 and Rise of Nations on the cheap, in an attempt to get back into the ol’ RTS, both still unplayed though, too many games to get through! Hoping to give them both a try when I have a few days off next week.
