In city of journalists, would you gain experience bonuses by reviewing bands so hard their drummer's legs fall off?

...God, I'm a despicable fanboy.

What is this World of Warcraft you speak of?

I've been too busy playing City of Heroes / City of Villains these last three-years-and-change (plus a minor flirtation with D&D Online) to really notice.

I love CoX. It's very telling that when I tell my WoW playing friends about the different powers CoX lets me play with they sound vastly overpowered to them. It does a fairly clever trick of making you feel (at times) overpowered, while actually the whole thing is very well balanced.

Maximalist, do-everything games that are really fun to play are very rare. Better to try to cut out the things that aren't so fun and spend your time doing what you do really well. Therein lies the strength of CoX.

I agree with Alex. I love CoX character creation!

As for the last point in the post. I do feel that developers (especially the designers) should be more active with their community and fanbase. Its a win-win situation. The developers know what the fanbase think about eg, upcoming changes, and the fanbase feel more compelled to play because they have a small hand in the pie.

His comments on Enhancements are interesting. They've always been one of the least Superheroey aspects of CoX, something compounded by the invention system that came in with Issue 9. I think they're good things to have in the game but they don't fit particularly well with the theme.

I think it's great that CoX has been pretty happy to keep doing what it does and focus on that casual beat-em-up/dress-em-up MMOG thang. More games should have such a flexible character creation system as well.
