Weighted Companion Cube Plush!

By John Walker on November 10th, 2007 at 11:52 am.

Load Steam and see what’s in the Update News.

Why, it’s the Weighted Companion Cube Plush!

Cuddles!

So there’s everyone’s questions answered about how they’ll make it: squishy. Apart from how big it is. But if those super-tasteful rear-view mirror cubes are anything to go by, not quite life-size.

Um, Valve, you know how we love you forever and ever and everything – can we pre-order one? Um, four?

It has to be said. That’s even cooler than the real (or not-real?) companion cube.

  2. That’s the cutest cube I’ve ever seen.

Aww so cute and awesome :D

Where’s the Weighted Companion Cube custom Lovedoll then?

  5. Nick says:

Hope they make plenty, if they remain (inevitably) sold out forever I’ll be unhappy.

Where’s the Weighted Companion Cube custom Lovedoll then?

I’d imagine it won’t be long before someone mods one of these to nestle within the soft confines of the cube.

    Those…

    I…

I’m actually kinda disappointed. They’re so stuffed they’ve lost their shape and… car dice?!

I might… go get the pattern of the guy on 4chan that did his one. Maybe make a BIG SMOOSHY CUSHION WCC…

  8. Author X says:

I have to agree with Bunny, that I’m a bit dissapointed. Of course, unlike (it seems) most people, I really didn’t want a plush – I was hoping for a sturdy paperweight, or similar hard toy.
You could hardly even call that plush thing a cube, let alone weighted.

Of course, I’m still one of the minority that would prefer a turret over the WCC any day of the week. I guess I’m just not in tune with the rest of the Portal fanbase.

  9. TychoCelchuuu says:

Looks neat, I guess, but I can go without. There is, however, something I would buy with zero hesitation: a Weighted Companion Cube paperweight. It has to be metal, and as heavy as they’re willing to make it. A scale model of the real Companion Cube, right down to the texture.

That would be great. I can dream I guess.

    report

  10. Brant says:

    Suspiciously sphere-ish.

    Unlikely to be weighted.

Call me a pessimist, but I’m not sure I like it.

(Not that I won’t end up with two or three of my own, mind you)

    report

  11. Junior says:

Nope, they have betrayed the true form of the WCC. Bunny and I will be going out today to purchase some modeling supplies to make our own, they will be hard, shiny and CUBE SHAPED!

But I might have to make a plushie too, just for nap times…

  12. po says:

Bet these ones are flame retardant :(

  13. Ravenhawk says:

Well, the Christmas present my girlfriend has been pestering me for ever since she played portal is finally being made, eh?
I’ll probably get one for myself too.

    report

  14. Junior says:

Po, All Aperture Science technologies remain operational at up to 40,000 degrees….

    report

  15. Bunny says:

    Junior, no “might” about it.

I WILL have me a big, smooshy WCC for nap times. And I might let you use it, depending…

    report

  16. If I don’t get both the fluffy dice and an actual desky cube for Christmas from my wife, I will kill her – even if she is carrying my unborn child.

    report

  17. Lu-Tze says:

Hmmm, do Companion Cubes represent a replacement for my Mario Mushroom dice?

    report

  18. TamiyaGuy says:

I really like the idea of the car dice, and I love the idea of the plush toy, but it looks really misshapen. If it was slightly more cube-y, that would be my #1 soft toy.

Who else wants Weighted Companion Cube paperweights/vinyl toys? PLEASE!!!!

I think the point has been explored fairly throughly, they are cute, and first reaction is “Do want!” but when you think about it, you want more.
