What Riven did was drop you in alien worlds with their own internal logic, but logic nonetheless, that you had to familiarise yourself and work with. Which is a pretty stunning achievement for the genre.

Were the interactive controls any smoother than in the original? I seem to remember having a tough time manipulating objects, turning wheels, swinging hammers, etc.
