Because you all already own copies of Uplink, Darwinia and Defcon, right? So you won’t care that there’s an Introversion Anthology pack up on Steam containing all three games for just $20…
Hmm.

Yeah, that’s a videogame.

This is one of the news I was trying to send via Steam Friends to one of you guys a couple of days ago, but apparently either the Send Message option doesn’t work for me or only those in the friends list can be messaged (still there’s no feedback when you try to).
Anyway, great chance to grab those, I was missing Defcon and Uplink (shame on me), so I bought the full pack off Steam. And I thought I finished my games shopping for 2007!

Like Kismet, I am also missing Defcon and Uplink, so my choice here was clear.

Every little helps - support the world’s formost independant games developer today!
I do own all the games on disc and Uplink on Steam as well. It would be nice to own them all on Steam. Another great reason for Valve to push third-party game serial code intergration with Steam. I want to be able to key in my copies of BioShock, Darwinia, DEFCON, Rome: Total War… and everything else that I don’t want to have to buy a second time.

Kismet: Wait… you can’t be my cat.. my cat already owns Darwinia, Defcon and Uplink…

“my posting”
GERUND. Tsk.
Is this some precursor to the imminent Multiwinia? That’s going to be woo, as long as they fix the broken, broken, oh so very broken pathfinding in Darwinia.

I suppose I could get this as a present for my brother, if only becuase he’s too tight to ever buy any games.
(What do you mean getting married and buying a house is expensive? Wingeing bastard!)

Would be really nice if we could gift the ones we already own, ala Orange Box. What I’m really interested in though is when Subversion comes out.

Combine all the games into one massive game.
Now that would be a video game!
December 18th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
Ha, just bought this yesterday!
For defcon and uplink. And only had darwinia on CD. Great to have them all in steam. Finally something to do at work (besides TF that is).
Any word on when multiwinia is coming out?

KindredPhantom: Updefwinia!
And yeah, I can’t wait for Subversion and Multiwinia either.

I was wondering, how much of a cut do these indie developers get via Steam sales? It’s something I was wondering about when I was thinking of picking up Psychonauts either second-hand or via Steam. As good as I feel about giving money to Valve, I do hope they are giving the devs a decent share, especially the indies.

Matt: You can, the recent Steam update allows you to gift any game you buy on Steam before you purchase it (you can’t gift what you’ve already owned and played)
And Abyss: you can now add any game to Steam via shortcut now anyway.

I’d never picked up any of Introversions games until I grabbed the Anthology pack the other day. As soon as I saw it was up, that was the motivation to actually go play the demos to see if they were for Me, since I really liked the company’s approach to gaming generally.
As soon as I played the demos, I was hooked by the games themselves, and the Anthology was purchased on those merits. Introversion’s coolness becoming a Significant Bonus.
Already I’m building them into a stage-2 Media Studies paper I’m teaching over summerschool on videogames in a few weeks.

Cargo Cult says:
Alas, if you buy Darwinia online you’ll never see quite how monitor-defyingly ***GREEEEEEEN*** the box was.
I have such a box on my shelf - along with a cheery DEFCON one. No Uplink box, unfortunately - and I still need to get round to playing my Steam-bought copy…

I’m getting that.
And then I’m getting an EeePC mini-laptop to run 8 hour Defcon games in a desk draw at work…

I picked up a new Darwinia box a while back for, I think, $5 or less. That was one heck of a bargain. But since Uplink is on Gametap and I did not care for Defcon, I think I’ll pass on this anthology.

I was waiting for a bundle of all the Introversion games, and now I have one. And then there’s Mario Galaxy. Miracles do happen at Christmas, you know?
Sadly I don’t get paid until January 16th, so my miracles are null and void. Boy am I glad I saved Half-Life: Episode Two for a rainy day.

Does anyone else think the Refer-a-Friend bonuses being given out are (in-part) a means to get low level players leveled up in time for WotLK? Get them into the fray, more addicted and increasing the longevity of their subscription? ;)

Wow thats cheap. I cant help but think they might be selling themselves a bit short there. Its not like any of those 3 games will really ‘age’ in technology terms.
