Sounds like this one might be for non-video gamers and for gamers who remember going to arcades before Street Fighter came out.

I am about 2/3 of the way through the bonus levels (I usually steal CPU cycles with it and play while waiting for tedious remote restarts, tedious disc burning sessions, tedious anything I have to wait for while supposedly working etc) and found myself suspecting the balls were being "guided" somewhat. Despite that sucking balls *cough* it's still the most fun you can have under with 15MB without running DOS.

Nope, it strips it out of everything.

On the bright side, here's what should be a good way to hide spoilers in the future.

I’m quite amazed that you despite a complete list of what tags you’re allowed to use and a preview text right below the comment box managed to include that spoiler.

Sorry! It's likely that the style attribute would be stripped from every tag though, else blocking span would be useless. Let's see:
is this bold?

(Blame the RPS crew for not fixing it! ;-))

At least Theory didn't post the truth about father christmas without spoiler tags. I feel vindicated in my loathing of peggle, it felt like an MMO and now I know why.

John - delightful to hear that someone in authority also enhances their gaming experiences with Radio 4. Without From Our Own Correspondent, Neverwinter Nights 1 would have been a very different game for me...

It shouldn't have to happen and now you've ruined Peggle for me for all foreseeable future.

For shame!

I'd love to see some proof of rigged/AI Peggle, just for my own cynicism's sake. I'm not seeing any articles or videos, though, and it's a bit difficult to believe when e.g. I find no systematic progression in difficulty through the game, or the Zen Ball AI fails to compensate for the bucket.

The closest I can come is that I don't think the 'free ball' after a total miss is 50/50 (seems subjecively like I get a free ball about 75% of the time), but then they don't actually say that it is.

Personally I don't doubt the AI control of the bounces in Peggle. I played the Orange Box version and it definitely felt that the ball was bouncing either rather too kindly, or (in the last bit where it lands in the points holes after you win) to a specific number. Could just be my brain playing tricks on me but I think one of the reasons Peggle has found such success is because the game is designed in the early levels to be nice to you.

Also I don't see quite what the fuss is about, it was colourful and everything, but my attention wandered after a few levels and I never feel an urge to play it again.

It must be doing something right, I can't think of any other casual game that's been subject to so much critical analysis.

And also: PEGGLE!
