I do wish NWN 2 MoTB got a special mention somewhere. I knew I was going to love Portal, but I was surprised just how impressive MoTB was.

Portal was that special Something Different that we spend our times hoping will appear. It deserves to be the game of the year, because it was clever, witty, and different.

I suppose I’m glad it wasn’t MOHA Drako.. tsk tsk :) While I enjoyed the latest in the series a lot, there was nothing really groundbreaking about it, just a -very- well polished version of what we’ve had before. I hadn’t considered a small, linear game tucked between two other giants already mentioned as eligible for GOTY…

Portal though? hrm…. Monkfish is right, everyone loves portal, at least to some extent. While it certainly goes undefeated in the category of 3d puzzle games, Portal doesn’t really keep me going back over it in my head and reliving scenes and moments like a nagging itch. Like aspects of Crysis, Bioshock, hell even NWN2 MOTB do. Perhaps though, in a year of such great, all together awesome PC titles we’ll still be playing well after the calender flips, portal deserves it like a mascot, the candle on the cake :)
