I havent taken the plunge for the full game yet (I know it'll fuel the cause, I'm working on it), the Demo rocks, and I love nearly everything about the game. Seeing as Vic is such a talented guy, here's another idea for ya Vic...I'd love to see a computer version of the role playing game Paranoia. Its an "old school" RPG in the D&D-type, set in the future/alternative universe, and its a blast (the computer is your friend!) I dont know if that would be up "your" alley or not, but it'd be awesome, and "you" have the talent to do it Vic! Another "bored" game (thats what most ppl call em, but I love em) I'd love to see get some PC love is THE ORIGINAL Avalon Hill Civilization Game (and by extension, the Advanced Civ game). Just some other ideas to think about :)

Fanstastic job Mr Davis. I'm really looking forward to playing your next game. How awesome a game inspired by Dune and A Game Of Throne can be? The Ticket To Ride reference puzzled me a bit though.

It only takes a couple of hours to play a ApocEmpire game...

(Learning it, of course, is a different question)

I was inspired to try the demo of this after reading many many positive reviews.
It's good; although I'm not the kind of person who would enjoy this game (I don't have enough time to play it, nor the competence of strategy to do well), I can see why others might enjoy it.

For the record, I've never played any sort of CCG, and I've played only one other Hex-based strategy game (Steel Panthers). And may I say, it's the best one-of-those-two I've played.

Hey I just wanted to thank Kieron and RPS for notching off another of my 15 minutes. I'll try and keep the blog at my site entertaining. It really has turned out to be a fun marketing tool. Cliff Harris of Democracy and Kudos fame tipped me off to the idea that you could use it to mess with the google bots...or at least influence them in a positive way. If your'e a google bot then just ignore this.

Re: Link. Ah - Alex Kierkegaard. In this case, he's actually right though. PCG had an editorial diktat that you weren't to ever use the word gameplay.

I think his original argument is muddied in his usual arrogant hysteria though, and he misses that what people use "gameplay" for isn't actually a straight synonym for the quality of the game in some cases - like, say, it has simple gameplay or it has complicated gameplay or it has deep gameplay or whatever. The former two are the sort of thing which I'd end up using mechanism for - gameplay also works in a "What You Do" sort of way. Of course, all of those three examples would be worthless without a further explanation of its deep/complicated/simple "gameplay".

It's a pity to see the Darklands remakes fall. However, considering what we have recieved in it's stead, I won't complain. In regards to the Hard-copy CD-ROM version, what are the benefits of owning it? Does it have the aesthetic appeal, or is the download-by-email a one-shot install, and thus the CD is needed to re-install at a later date? Would pick up extra copies, were there but multiplayer, but will content myself with what little I can get.

Hah. Thanks for that link Zuffox. The comments thread that results from the article(in which the author knocks down the arguments of some angry young men) is also very entertaining.
