Goliath The Soothsayer

By Alec Meer on February 3rd, 2008 at 12:29 pm.

Here’s some sacreligious Sunday time-killing. It’s based on a ‘true story’ about a ouija board that purportedly brought misfortune upon popular beat combo and nonsensical noiseniks The Mars Volta (“we can come up with cures for cancer and AIDS if we’re more in tune with what’s going on in the rainforest”).

Up until this week, Amazon had exclusive hosting rights for this Flash horror-adventure game. Now it’s free to be casually embedded on any old website, so you’ll find Goliath the Soothsayer in its entirety below the cut. It’s a short twist upon room escape games, and one that unreservedly slathers itself in religious and spiritual imagery in the name of creepiness. Religious and spirtual meaning? Eh, not so much. Plenty of spooky visions and observational puzzles, though.

Here it is, anyway. Walkthroughs abound across the internets should you become stuck/frustrated.

The game’s intended to promote the Mars Volta’s fourth album. Whole lotta songs about ouija boards on that, apparently.
