Champions Video To Save The Day!

Huzzah! The first video of footage from Cryptic’s Champions Online has emerged. The cel-shaded style is looking great, if you can manage to focus on anything without giving up your methylphenidate. There’s a few hints as to the sorts of locations to expect (volcanos, green forests) and some of the power effects, which look glowy and important.

Waaaaaatch myyyyy viiiiiideeeeooooo

It might take a wee while to load, so we’ve put it below the jump to stop the front page grinding to a halt. Or you might want to head straight to the source and download it from Cryptic’s servers.

(A special imaginary prize to the person who can explain why the controls are chopping in half.)

In the source code the object height is set to 354px but the source of the movie is 360px? Had this problem before… somewhere, somewhen.

Actually, I’m forcing the movie size down, or it’s too wide for the page. Meh – we can all cope.

This isn’t /really/ cell-shaded though is it? It just looks like they’ve put black outlines round everything. It’s still properly 3d looking as well.

    :/

Is it going to be something like CoH/CoV with different graphics then?

  5. Supposedly “more actiony” than COX, but yeah, looks like.

    Additional plugins? Noooo! :(

OK, I’m being a bit picky here, but I really hate the Quicktime embedded player. I’ve got Alternative but it won’t play in browser stuff. And this makes me sad. – However, if an alternative version is found or indeed uploaded, I shall take a look.
