It’s a pity everyone here is so money-obsessed. I’d definitely rather be working for someone I have the utmost respect for than earning the same amount or more working on blockbuster titles with no real credibility.

Different strokes for different folks. I’m sure Introversion will find the right person for the job.

It’s been said already but to reiterate the point:
£20-30k in London is lower than entry level. I’m a software developer in Glasgow & our company consider £25K+ to be the entry level for graduates straight from University. Glasgow is significantly cheaper to live in than London.

@Okami – yes production is what I mean’t no idea why I said design.. colour me stupid.

@Meat Circus – Yes, but I think security, networking and hardware guys get better deals normally. I think programmers get bum deals 9 times out of 10.

Uhmmmm…. No. Production is where the real money is. Want to earn lots of cash? Go work for a publisher! Designers don’t earn that much, programmers are usually better paid than game or level designers..

Ah you poor programmers… am a chemist and I now laugh at your 30K in London! Get a real degree…

I did work in the games industry as a tester (14k a year).. and can’t belive how poorly the trained programmers were paid and the extra hours (unpaid!!) you guys are crazy. As with every business its the suits that get the money, don’t become a programmer… design is were the real money/power is :)

More to the point, 20-30K is the range I’m earning at the moment in Nottingham, and even if I got 30 it’s not much to uproot and move to London on.

It’s actually rather surprising that the ‘last of the bedroom programmers’ has an office in the most expensive city in the country. It’d be much more appropriate to find them in Nottingham or Birmingham or Manchester, surely.

Or in a hut in the Yorkshire Dales.

wonder if they need a scripter. I havent bothered much with c but all programing is the same really,. I wolud work for that much money,. 20k in london is 40k dollers here,. must be some doggy cheap flats arounds,. perhaps I will fire off a cv,. . not sure about moving across the pond,. and Im no fan of monster cites,. perhaps not..,

Seth: I could see a larger team looking for different languages (though, not many are used in commercial game dev outside of C++), but with only 8 / 9 people, it’s best to keep it all under a common tongue. Of course, there’d be nothing stopping you using something else for tool writing if that was what was assigned to you.
