After the moronic demo that this game had, where every single game was just one team spawn camping the other, I passed. Seems it was a good thing I did.

@Heartless you made me lols. Since when have consoles ever been "bleeding edge"? Consoles are always many generations behind PC and use custom bus architecture to make up for old tech.

PS3 cell processing and blueray is probably the closest any console has ever been to "bleeding edge".

The explosion in console market is because there is so much growing room. CliffyB can sell his rehashed UT titles to new folks and they love it. Over time consoles will see a slow in growth and the upgrade cycle will come closer to what it is on a PC now. To put this all in perspective think of what used to be one of the strongest argument for consoles.

"Games are very well tested, stable, and so much QA that you have a solid release". Well send in the patch monkeys, console folks are getting a taste of the PC mentality of "it compiles ship it, we will fix it later".

PCs will always lead the way and most titles will be developed on them for the foreseeable future. But its really a mute point because consoles are going to re evolve back into PCs over time anyway.

Love ETQW. One of the top games I've been playing on my new Ubuntu laptop (8600GT 512ram, 2gb ram, and no, no windows).

Lol Stormchild, you are the first person I've met that didn't figure out TF2 and it's maps within a few tries. ET:QW and TF2 are on two totally different playing fields regarding accessibility. I look forward to trying the new ET:QW demo this weekend to judge the changes for myself. It is unfortunate the game launched before they had these issues figured out... if they are indeed figured out.

@Fazer :

You haven't got enough game experience. Though it is true it's hard to see what class you're facing, it's not a so big issue and if you get good with reflexes, you can adapt your gameplay in seconds.

But you seem to be rather a TF2 player. Then I find normal that you don't fit well in the ETQW mentality / gameplay. It's the contrary for me, for example. I try to play TF2 regularly, but I just can get nearly as much fun as in ETQW. TF2 is basically corridors, hubs, and zone capture. The graphic design is genius, but every game is a bloody mess and I get easily lost in all these corridors. It's just another type of game, more brutal and destructive than ETQW, imo. I am more into ETQW games, or battlefield. Plus I played Wolf:ET a lot before, so I am used to multiple objectives in maps and extensive teamwork (I mean more advanced teamwork than just a medic following a heavy all the time and making him invincible).

Have a good day !

QW is actually the best game on the market !

but I can't play it after 1.4 release becouse my cpu usage go up to 99-100% under windowsxp and under linux too and then lag.
I have Athlon64 3800, 2GB ram, Nvidia8800 GT 512MB !!
please fix this, or give me an option to reduce this overloading :-(

E W: You can fix the scrollwheel bug by simply setting m_rawInput to 1.

The problem when it is set to 0 will be fixed in the next patch.

It still drives mu nuts when I shoot the whole clip into the enemy, not even knowing if I hurt him because of lack of blood, then I got killed with one shot from a guy who can hide somewhere forever and I still won't know where and what class he was. Every character looks so similar it's ridiculous, the game has to draw red rectangular around them to make them pop out of environment. A lone person has no chance in a fight against a vehicle.

Man, I'm glad they've finished Team Fortress 2 at the same time :-)

ET:QW was my favorite game of last year until:

They freaking ruined the game with 1.4 update by introducing the scroll wheel bug. It is unfathomable that this still is not fixed 2 months later. I went from getting 1500XP per day to not playing at all.
The QA over at SD seems to be blind or incompetent.

The new demo is already out and so are the accessibility improvements in the 1.4 patch. 1.5 is in beta and Splash Damage have a great wiki for the modders and map developers.

Damn, so I can't look forward to some new official campaign maps coming from Splash Damage? That's what I was waiting for too, I've played all the existing maps to death already :(

Maybe I'll have to look to UT3 or COD4 for my shooty kicks soon..

That's quite positive that they seem to recognise that Quake Wars' accessibility was its biggest flaw. That was probably the biggest reason I didn't give the demo much time.
