I wish sins was more tactile and tactical.

Things as simple as having antimissile ships, formations, sure that could be expansion content, yet for all Homeworld 2 brokenness in multilayer, you could ambush, either by cloak or by hyper driving, dust clouds too, this game needs more stealth space is very big! Once you do that, ambushes and recon serve a greater purpose.

I'm loving the "non combat vessels" that come from traders and the refinery (as tec) non-combatants make war more interesting, but them getting butchered seemed to have no effect on the populations happiness, that seems odd to me.

any game with non combatants in a way that effects the game meaningfully feels so much more valid, from half-life 2's scientists to the big daddies (those i love, the little sisters are just baggage) even the old lady in swat 4 you have to tazer in the face.

Favourite of all is the civilian class in a bf2 mod project reality, you cant shoot them, but they pelt you with stones... little bastards.

"To be honest ‘Sins’ didnt really do it for me. It seemed more like half a 4x merged with half a RTS with the whole not amounting to a full anything. I enjoyed it for a short while but it lacked anything to hold me longer."

I'm a bit surprised this attitude hasn't been more widespread. I love the game, but if I had any criticism (apart from the weak AI, which doesn't matter in multiplayer) it's this. It seems really complex when you start out, possibly because the tutorials are so bad, but when you've played it for a while it becomes clear that there's not a whole lot of depth to it. Which is weird for a 4X/RTS hybrid on a massive scale. But I still think it's awesome.

yonsito: You're clearly not reading enough reviews. I've written much lazier reviews than this, and I'm sure Kieron has too. In fact he's probably doing so right now. Ultimately I'm convinced that no review of Sins can fairly be deemed "lazy" if the author in question has actually spent more than twenty hours playing the game.

I have no idea what you meant by the second sentence in your comment.

I usually have ads turned on for this site (and some of them are good) but today opera has been playing up when I open menu's on this page. Right clicking on a link to "open in background" freezes the browser until I minimise and restore. So I've turned off scripts.

I've no idea what's going on but this thread seems to be relevant so maybe someone who understands these things can help out?

Y'all right love?

This site has gone weird on Safari recently - everything is in a weird order and I can't see any adverts anymore, just "src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">" at the top of the screen next to some jumbled up stuff. It's entirely possible it's just my computer, but if not you may wanna take a look if it's going to cock up your ad revenue.

On topic - fuck! I like this game, but it takes SO LONG. I Haven't finished a single pissing game yet! Even on small! Small in Sins is gargantuan in any other game. Good stuff, though.

I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to buying games (even though I bought the Orange Box on Steam but then that's VALVe plus I got to 'gift' my spare HL2 to a friend). I prefer to get the boxed version perhaps because I remember the feeling when I used to save up pocket money to buy a C64 game from the local indie games store when I were a lad.

I'm tempted to order the collectors edition from the website as it works out at £35-40 with postage after currency conversion & the only place I can find it in the UK is <a href="http://www.gameseek.co.uk/pd/PCt931ftbzk64" rel="nofollow">Gameseek</a> which works out at £32 with postage but appears to be the normal version.
