There’s been no game since that has evoked quite the same set of feelings as vietnam, the sweet joy of sweeping over the other teams head with surfing bird blaring out of the chopper…

It was always amusing to see the horror on the faces of the opposition during lan parties when they heard that tune and figured out it who it was on their way! :D

I echo Nick. Mods were fundamentally a different thing to beats. They were dressed better, for a start.

(As Nick says – watch Quadrophrenia. At the core, Mods were actually a movement based around an accepting of consumerism while rejecting traditional British values (Italian suits. American Music. Even stuff like the Who turning the flag into suits wasn’t patriotism – that was VANDALISM. All this stuff makes the latterday Mods as Patriotic symbol in Britpop all the more grating).

I suspect the term beatnik’s is more relevant in the US.
