I am sad to report that I tried the game, tried my damndest to like it, but simply couldn't stomach its flaws. I can see that there is something important going on under the surface. There is a genius in the theater elements brought to the game medium, but it seems like the game was made hastily and without a lot of effort. I'm ok with the terrible graphics, but you rarely see more than 3 types of people on the streets (gritty guy, little girl and normal guy), and every shopkeep is the exact same model. That combined with the atrocious combat, complex gameplay elements with no explanation given and the horrid translation made the game simply unplayable for me. I would almost prefer to read the story that is told in the game in book form, rather than play it in such a confusing, mixed up environment.

I hope some will appreciate it, I cannot.

so Iv tried to play this "game" ... few hrs in and just walking around and talking with everyone I can without much progress at all ;/ it gets rather boring, the ammount of charachters and facts is pretty big to keep it all remembered from one session to another. the story seems superfluous. the world is pretty big but very empty with nothing to do there, the 'action' part is so poorly made (didnt hope for it anyway, even russian shooters have mostly poor combat)

the atmosphere is nice tho, and the story is intriguing, but there is no gameplay so far, except exploration. Ill try to play it a bit more, and maybe find the russian version.

And one last thing - knowing russian gamedev Im pretty surprised this got made (and finished) at all! I can imagine the budget was ridiculously small for such an ambitious project, the team was rather small and inexperienced

The article reminds me of Omikron: The Nomad Soul -- which was also way ahead of its time, but marred by terrible gameplay.

Best game I ever played. So deep and meaningful that it actually leaves its trace in you - it's unforgettable. Even if you hate it for low fps and poor graphics, you can't get it out from your head. You will come back to it - again and again.
"Neither the Death nor the Sun can be looked at in front..... Who said that?"

Dead Rising had a similar structure. Anyone here played both? Can we get some compare and contrast going on?

>> Or should I just endure the present translation and replay it later if I like it and their translation actually works out?

You should. The translation project is frozen and will be for some time. Also, some parts of the translation aren't all that bad -parts of the Bachelor and Haruspicus scenarios.

The total lack of presence on Amazon.com and eBay's copies being from UK sellers suggests a non-NA release, yeah. Which isn't really that surprising, what with NA palates tending more towards console fare and away from nightmarishly surreal survival art games with fractured translations.
