“hardcore Matrix-esque wargame”…Matrix doesn’t do hardcore wargames. They take the fruits of other people’s labors from the past, slap a patch that will make the game work in XP, and charge $60 for it. And amazingly, there are folks out there who will rebuy the game they probably already own. Eh.

I’m a fan of Pitch Black and Riddick The Movie. Not great as movies, per se, but good Science Fiction B Movies to be watched alongside Split Second and They Live.

(actually, ‘Crank’s “adrenaline or he dies” schtick could be a pretty effective game mechanic, in a Mirror’s Edge/The Club type environment…)

I’m guessing we will be seeing much more of this. This is because we’re complete morons. Just look at what lengths sports games take to perfectly capture the slope of Rooneys head or Beckhams latest hairstyle. Celebs sell magazines, celebs sell movies, celebs will sell videogames.

Also, Jessica Alba? She doesn’t exist, shes a bath tub full of hair products altered with photoshop. And moderate tits.

Still, I hope digitised versions of hollywood celebrities as our new alter-egos – as opposed to generic wizard or trim, buff ex-soldiers – isn’t going to become a new marketing thing, like celebrity voiceovers. Exceptions apply to playing someone like Jessica Alba, because that’s just hot.

It’s time for a new Riddick. The game not the movie! That was a fantastic game, not in the least because of Diesel’s voice acting.
This game though looks like it’s going directly into the sales bin.
