The big differences between this and an expansion is:
1. Not in the shops, online only
2. Not by Obsidian. but a NWN modding team turned pro.

Am more looking forward to this than what will likely be a narrative light second Storm of Whatnot expansion.

It's not a bug in the very last chamber of the dungeon, but if he had to go through the whole last dungeon lugging everyone around, then it might be a bug, yes. And it would be a royal pain to try to play it that way, too.

@Shanucore: That was a bug that let you bring everyone? I didn't think so, it appeared to me that it was designed for that because some of your companions do things you don't expect... (with a twist! I guess)

speaking of urine-sodden toilet paper, anyone know how to force firefox to always underline hyperlinks? AND still retain the ability to let the site choose its own colors? it seems to be a one or the other situation.

Sure thing.
If you don't already have it, create a file:
Docs & Settings\{username}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{profilename}\chrome\userContent.css
And put this inside it:
a { text-decoration:underline !important }

That should underline all links on all websites, and hopefully not change anything else.

Re. NWN2, I almost finished it before my last PC died. I was on the very last dungeon. Apparently, however, it was a bug that let me take my entire party into the dungeon. All 18 of them, or however many characters you can collect. It was slow work shepherding all of those little buggers about.

Fortunately I still have the saves, but it seems a bit cheap to spend a mere hour finishing a game almost 12 months after you last played it...

Actually, you could have talked about "Mysteries of Westgate" last years. The module itself is ready to publish since October of last year. But publisher Atari decided to use developer Ossian's (the same team whose last project for NWN1 Atari stopped prematurely with the end of their pay for a module program and who then finished it and made it available for free) module/adventure pack/whatever as test object for a new DRM scheme. Which is supposed to be implemented with the next (or the one after that?) NWN2 patch. Or not.

Gah, I really must get around to finishing NWN2. One problem was that it was virtually unplayable for about a year until several patches were issued.

Sages! Lizard men! Ruffians! Sea serpents! And an oddly abrupt endin

You're so cheap, Alec. :P

Seems to be a lot of NWN2 content coming out! This is in addition to the promising Storm of Zehir too.

...I'm getting tempted!

Adventure pack is probably just a marketing term, it kind of compares it to pen and paper D&D where you buy an adventure pack that contains all you need to run the adventure, maps, creature stats etc. I think the game will add some new models (wererats and sea serpents) and items to the toolset so people can use those to make their own adventures too.

I'm just guessing of course.

The toolset is what I really like about these games, it isn't perfect but some good things were done with it for NWN and with NWN2. I like the way it opens up the online experience for people and lets them create their own things. NWN has been supported with patches for many years now and Bioware did a great job, hopefully Obsidian are able to do the same. I find it a pleasant alternative to the mmo culture where people are forced to pay and limited to having no control, also the DM/GM aspect is something mmos can't (or at least don't) offer in the same way.

The single player aspect is limited but small communities of people all playing together and forming their own adventures as they choose is something that is often overlooked with these games, or at least taken for granted, the original NWN did something really special in that regard. The was a wealth of community made content and it has even become a part of the official content in many cases, this being an example of that.

It's basically a user module like you'd find on nwvault.ign.com but with a bit of money and some QA behind it. It's a new adventure only; you won't be seeing any extra classes, feats, spells or skills like in the expansion.
