So I got back to poking around in Arvi Teikari’s back catalogue, and I found Floating Islands Game. Not quite sure how I missed this the first time around, because it’s exquisite. It’s a Lemmings-like puzzle game, where you must figure out the use of mechanisms placed on each island to get a tiny stupid to safety. There are something like thirty five levels, and superb music throughout. Play it.

Damn you guys, I try to do something actually fruitful here :/
I think this file might need some mirroring soon.
And here is the mirror http://rapidshare.com/files/140038237/FIG.zip.html
Oh joy. Another Portal reference (level with telescope, bottom left corner). You’re a puzzle game too, we get it.
I actually didn’t like this all that much. It gets a bit too abstract in a lot of the levels.
I wonder why the designer didn’t let the player decide when to start? Instead of letting the player explore the world hes playing in and understand how things work before its too late, he just puts you in an un-necisary rush that makes the game a great deal less fun. Their is no good reason why you wouldn’t let the player understand the mechanics before he has to use them.
Where’s the tutorial? I can’t find it.
I downloaded this a couple weeks back. Very much liked it, though there were a couple levels that baffled me. Overall the style was aces + it was fun to play.
