PCG Podcast Deserves Your Attention

PC Gamer UK’s latest podcast is up, and desires your listening ear. And why should you? Because I, your delightful friend, am on it talking gibberish and making childish jokes about bumming. Editor Ross Atherton, Dep Ed Tim Edwards, and frightening Scottish man Craig Pearson (sitting far too close to his mic) are also present.

We discussed Far Cry 2, Lego Batman, Dun-Dun-DRM, World Of Goo, and the PC Gamer Showdown. Also Ross went on and on and on about Empire: Total War in enough detail to make your wallpaper peel off and fall down. But don’t be afraid, we soon stopped him by libelling a major games developer. A challenge: listen carefully and see if you can hear where I subtly mention Rock, Paper, Shotgun. I snuck it in there like an aural ninja. Download here. RSS here.

It’s funny, because you’re all wrong on this podcast about everything. EVERYTHING*

    *except maybe world of goo.

  2. Tim E says:

    I’m never wrong. Except sometimes.

  3. Good to hear your reassuring tones back on the podcast John, PCG don’t get enough of the freelancer crew on. I want to hear from Kieron “Britain’s foremost games ponce” Gillen.

    report

  4. Craigp says:

John is wrong – he was way too quiet, so after some level boosting I ended up a bit louder than I should be. Hah! Take that, John Wronger.

And I’m not scary in the slightest. I’m lovely. Just don’t ever cross me. Or look at me.

  5. Can we interpret this as a toe-in-the-water move towards a wholly RPS based Podcast?! I can but hope in vain.

  6. And I’m not scary in the slightest. I’m lovely. Just don’t ever cross me. Or look at me.

There’s that famous friendly Scottish temperament coming to the fore again…

    report

  7. Excellent! I’ll have to check this out.

Now if there were just some way to get just the PCGUK blog as an RSS feed too…

    report

  8. Arsewisely says:

Actually, now it’s been mentioned, this is basically Kieron Gillen’s blog.

  9. The Sombrero Kid says:

  10. teo says:

    No Warhead?
Oh well, I just got the mag so…

  11. John, this Poison-Ivy thing…

    Just NO!

  12. RSS feed for the PCG blog: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/rss/feed.php?limit=30

Unfortunately that won’t pipe updates to my GalCiv diary to you – I looked into doing this a different way, via the wonderfully named RSSPECT, but no dice.

Also, Kieron seems to have left himself logged in here on my (Tom Francis, master of stealth) office PC. Disguise activate!

    Protect the sentries!

  14. We need a RPS podcast! Bring on the trumpets!

    report

  15. Arsewisely says:

Tom Francis! What the hell is the difference between the Ultimate and Endless Universe editions of GalCiv II? Is it just the absence of the original Dread Lords single player?

I can’t find the blog article Ross referred to in the podcast.

Great diary mate – think you must be doing Stardock’s sales figures a power of good.

    report

  16. Zarniwoop says:

I really think the RPS guys should spend more time on the PCG podcast. I mean, it’s great, but it needs more ‘your mum’ jokes.

    report

  17. SPEEDCORE says:

ohh crap, I still have to listen to last months pod :(

    report

  18. RichPowers says:

That Kieron Gillen is a spy!

    report

  19. Mike says:

As much as I love Ross, he does make the podcast sound a bit like a managerial meeting at times.

Still, it’s an mp3 that’s about gaming. Can’t go wrong.

    report

  20. Shawn says:

great! but still waiting for the official RPS Podcast Episode #1

    report

  21. Nick says:

Kieron has been on a couple of the earlier podcasts hasn’t he?

    Needs some Cobbett imo.

    report

  22. *Puff of smoke*

@Arse – Yeah, just the slightly crap Dread Lords campaign that’s missing. No loss.

    report

  23. Ubernutz says:

    RPS Podcast had been demanded.

    Seconded.

    report

  24. The Sombrero Kid says:

can we stop calling them podcasts yet? it’s a stupid word for something thats been around for years ‘a tape ay thi wireless!’

    report

  25. The Sombrero Kid says:

ohh and that feed for the blog doesn’t work in igoogle it just gives us everything on cvg which is too much knowledge also my games radar feed broke when they all amalgamated as well so they should fix that too!

    report

  26. I love how Ross gets more and more exasperated at his sweary, cock-fixated peers as the podcast goes on. Seems like being editor of a video games mag is quite a lot like being a school teacher. With a class from the fourth season of The Wire.

    report

  27. Pod says:

I’ve always really like the way Tim Edwards and Tommy F speak.

    Is that wrong?
Additionally, Tom speaks like a guy I know who went to Eton. Did Francis go to Eton?
