@ The Shed - my pleasure mate.

I'd say that the most malleable (thanks for teaching me a new word ^^) part of the game is actually the control system itself. Levels are kinda like tracks in racing game - linear, tho you have some freedom in choosing paths. but the thing is not where you go, but how you do it. getting the speed is not that easy, and even a silly fence can throw you out of the flow. And you can pass that silly fence in 3 or 4 ways, depending on your imagination, and skill.

Runner vision is for noobs generally - it only suggests what you can use, and generally it does not show "the best route". I prefer to play without it.

It's possible to turn it off. As well as the reticle. On hard difficulty level its off at default. BTW - they count hight and physics differently, depending on difficulty level - on easy it's much more forgiving, and you can jump around quite frivolously. on hard however, you can't really repeat same jumps and tricks in same places - you will fall and damage yourself, or slowdown significantly

When comes to springboards set around - runners set them up, to create paths they use. They actually said it in one of the interviews, and it's explained in the game.

@luphisto - besides running there is nothing that AC and ME have in common. ME is story driven runinng/racing game, and AC is pure action freeroaming. ME storyline is about chasing or being chased after. I don't want to feed to much details, but generally its kind of detective story mixed with some political fiction. In first 2 levels you only get a glimpse of it, but it looks very strong, especially when you compare it to AC.

@luphisto: Screw that, buddy. Assassin's was a free roaming game with a painfully tightly scripted story structure, which just didn't gel right. It also had repetetive missions that were the same every time. Mirror's Edge has a much nicer middle ground of linear yet open levels and probably fairly scripted storytelling. The emphasis in the latter is on constantly moving through the world, where AC gave you the freedom, but not neseccarily the need to do so.

@JR: They said the same thing about the crosshair being toggleable, but that should be true considering all the non-crosshaired videos. I reckon you'll be able to turn Runner Vision off.

I believe the red highlights can be turned off for trickiness. Although that could be one of those things that devs say in interviews because it sounds good, but isn't an actual feature.

@Ryan "So who’s leaving all these big red diving boards on the edges of roofs, anyway?"

The same guy who leaves loads of explosive barrels lying around in HL2: Gordon Frohman :)

I like the fact that this video manages to set of my vertigo reflex, at some points I feel my adrenalin kick in and my palms get sweaty (doesn't seem to happen in R/L when I'm hanging over drops tho?).

when u start to get around in level its so easy to avoid getting shot, that there is really no need for any kind of cheating to present the game. tho as The Shed said (kek- nice rhyme) - no way of knowing for sure if they didnt. but seriously guys - hitting a very, very small and thin girl, moving at 25 km/h (there is a speedometer in race mode ^^), zigzaging around and jumping like a gazelle, at a distance of more than 10 meters is really friggin hard.

Aye it's definately a dude in the choppah.

I recall in a couple of the earlier videos you could just see "God Mode" or some such words in the far corner of the screen. Considering how she gets hit quite a bit it seemed logical that this was applied here for demonstration purposes. Could be not though. No way to know for shizzle.

She seems to have been hit climbing the fence, which is why didn't think there was godmode on.

And PJ is right, it's a dude with a rifle shooting from the chopper, no minigun.

there is no godmode in any of the movies i've seen so far. in the slide sequence it's possible to get hit, it's also possible to not to get hit. there is no minigun on the chopper - there are soldiers shooting assault rifles. if you think it's easy to fire a gun at fast moving target from helicopter, then go to shooting range and try to shoot at stable target from more than 20 meters. then we will talk if Mirror's Edge is or is not realistic

its very easy to get shot and killed in ME. even on medium difficulty I got downed several times - general rule of a thumb - never approach more than one enemy.
