Matt N, or anybody who may be influenced by what Matt N said, there is an option to play Space Rangers 2 with being offered text adventure missions. I think the description of those missions made it pretty apparent as to what you would be getting into too, so turning them down as they came along was a simple matter.

The King’s Bounty is much beter serial than HoMM. When I said that I refer to Amiga’s Original King’s Bounty from 1991, to The Legends and newly released Armored Princess.

Alec is leaving out the part where in fact, Rina’s current husband doesn’t flat ask you for 5000. He asks you to make a bid, 1k, 3k, or 5k, bearing in mind that she never sleeps and he doesn’t have to feed her. Oh, and also she’s his wife.

It’s like a silent auction.

Then there was the time a wizard asked me for help in controlling his staff. I assumed a wide stance and prepared myself, and then I began to climb his tower in order to seek out and master his staff. After a battle (with the Keepers, of course) he congratulated me. I asked if I could keep the staff, and he responded “Of course not! This staff is only for me! Too bad it’s too powerful for me to control… But I know just what to do with it!”

That quest may have permanently blown my Freud gauges.

HOMM? not my cuppa tea. but now … note to self: don’t get infected with addictive games again. the warning was there in the text, but I shrugged it off coolly, believing myself to be man enough to withstand temptation. damn. alright, one last round.

The game will crash often when playing on Vista 64bit.
So save often if you plan to get it.

Thanks for the heads up about this game. I picked it up last week and it is probably the best game I played this year aside from STALKER. It is certainly the most addictive.

GamersGate download server is incredibly slow, I’m getting 10-20kb/sec. Using Direct to Drive for games in the past I’ve always gotten 700-800kb/sec. So I don’t think you should recommend buying directly from GamersGate, unless you also recommend waiting 3 days for the game.

Playing the updated demo now. One cool thing about this game is how often it crashes. I mean, it really takes me back to the good old days when games were really cool and unstable and crashed your machine a lot. It rocks.
