Another one of our favourite things has sort of come back into life. We’ve only mentioned consolevania in passing before, but the web-TV show (which sprouted TV spin-off Videogaiden) has returned for a series 4. Except rather than their traditional shows, they’re doing a rolling-feature model, with youtube videos added as and when they’re finished. Thankfully, one of the first three is PC-game related, thus justifying a linkage. Rab is embedding himself in Warhammer Online to return in the world’s most long-form review. That he seems to be even more of geek than yours truly bodes well, but… well, surely nothing can go wrong?
Hurrah for PC games!
EDIT:Actually, let’s show some relevant splashes of Consolevania.
Their review of Oblivion…
Their review of Bioshock…
Dreamfall…
The Ship…
And taking the piss out of me…
The basts.

I haven’t watched much consolevania stuff but their “you are overencumbered” review of Oblivion was great (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMIoAAnZt_4). In this one the cameraman’s apparent fixation with Rab’s arsecrack was hilarious.
13/10/2008 at 14:24 Kieron Gillen says:
Inspired by that review, I talked Quinns actually going to chat up girls in the style of Oblivion.

Their last series of Videogaiden was great and can still be watched on the website http://www.bbc.co.uk/videogaiden/. It’s great despite them not being allowed to use John Gacy and Hitler. Damn the BBC.

Nice to see Rab back…where’s Ryan? The Oblivion review was a classic.
13/10/2008 at 14:44 Andrew says:
Ryan’s filming that WAR review, I think.
Really glad we’ve got CV back. NSJ, yeah?
13/10/2008 at 14:46 Kieron Gillen says:
Shame I couldn’t find the first NSJ film on there, actually.

13/10/2008 at 15:02 Andrew says:
It’s in one of the first episodes of CV S2, I think. But not on YouTube, weirdly.
13/10/2008 at 15:07 ZenArcade says:
Is the NSJ thing really meant to be taking the piss out of you kieron?
I never knew that before
13/10/2008 at 15:09 Ben Abraham says:
An appropriate unit of money says no-one watched the videos, barring the last. I think most of us can say we’re just here to see Kieron being made fun of.
13/10/2008 at 15:09 Cian says:
I do love Consolevania, but had missed their review of Dreamfall. Was dreading a good deal of piss being ripped and was a pleasant surprise to find Rab feels the same on TLJ as I do.
13/10/2008 at 15:12 Bhazor says:
Yes it is. You’re just rubbish at Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15535Ur6w0o
13/10/2008 at 15:16 Bhazor says:
Yep I think Kev is heavily based on Kieron. Sorry, but hey not everyone gets to become a fictional character.
13/10/2008 at 15:17 Leelad says:
TEEEEAAAAAMMMM!!
13/10/2008 at 15:50 Kieron Gillen says:
Bhazor : And you’re rubbish at reading RPS posts. That was the last video I linked to, and the second of the NSJ skits.
It’s me plus Tim Rogers, I think.

And there were a bunch of people worred consolevania was dead.
This is welcome news.
13/10/2008 at 16:28 Nick says:
Hey, Elliot Smith plus Kieron baiting in video form. It’s a match made in heaven.

“(which sprouted TV spin-off Videogaiden has returned for a series 4.”
No closing bracket *shakes fist*
13/10/2008 at 16:43 Steelfist says:
I dont get the background to that last video, when was it made?
13/10/2008 at 17:00 Andrew says:
Neat! It’s back, I thought it was going away. I’ll have to see about getting higher quality clips once a few are out, youtube is absolutely terrible quality for this :(
13/10/2008 at 17:30 Matt says:
Ben Abraham: You are absolutely right. That last video couldn’t wait till later.
I can believe that Kieron dreams with subtitles though, the poncey git.
13/10/2008 at 17:42 Peredoso says:
haha, loved the last one of Kieron, great fun :D
13/10/2008 at 17:45 Akirasfriend says:
Hang on, where are all the over Consolevaniacs?
Get in here, ya fat poofs!
Big love for the shoutout, Keiron. Support your independents!
13/10/2008 at 17:47 Iain says:
I’d not seen that NSJ video before. I was almost in tears when he was watching “indie” films. Classic.
13/10/2008 at 18:02 Kieron Gillen says:
I totally steal that gag all the time.

Gotta love this series. I’m so glad it’s back. One can hope that Kenny will make a return. their review of 7 Sins is hilarious.
13/10/2008 at 19:59 nordwindranger says:
the oblivion review reminded me of why I love British movies, I can understand about 3 words, but the whole thing sounds awesome. I wonder what an American sounds like to a Brit

Scottish is a type of British! ;)
An American sounds pretty awesome to a Brit like me. Cf. Edward James Olmos
13/10/2008 at 22:51 Andrew says:
Oh, Jesus, yes, how could you miss out ‘Bummed in the Gob’, Kieron?
Surely Consolevania’s finest hour.
13/10/2008 at 22:56 Thrawny says:
bummed in the gob is so awesome, it made it into GTA4.
13/10/2008 at 23:45 cheeba says:
