The first I heard of this was the announcement that it’ll be on Steam in a week or so. It’s bowling… but in the galaxy. Well, strictly speaking any Terran-based bowling is in the galaxy too, but you know what they mean. Its basically a comedy bowling game, plus online multiplayer and… well, it’s cute enough for me to link to a video. Like so:

Looks like they’ve missed the subtlety of bowling. They’ve added alot of excess ga…mechanics, and tried obscuring the shallowness with lots of fancy graphics and animations.
It’ll probably be fun for a little while, but will quickly get boring and tiresome.

From time to time (i.e. after I’ve just rewatched The Big Lebowski) I think that bowling would be a really fun thing to do – so I go and play, and then I remember that’s it’s really annoying and tedious. In a game, I don’t know how it’s going to be any different from Peggle: you line it up, press ‘go’, and then that’s it, because you can’t do anything to affect what happens once you’ve let go. Looks like they’ve tried to give you one or two things to do here – but then you got that in Peggle, and that always had a great big chunk of luck involved.
Still, the Dude abides…

Heh, it’s reading some of your recent entries Kieron that I’ve realised my own habit of referencing band names and album titles in titles for blog entries.
I imagine people find it faintly annoying, but I think I’ll keep at it anyway.
