Consolvania’s Installation Problem Fixed!

By Kieron Gillen on October 21st, 2008 at 7:00 pm.

BEEEEEEEP!
Clearly the biggest news of the day is the fact Consolevania have managed to get their installation of WAR working after it not doing so last time. Which involved Project Lead Paul Barnett calling up and having a yabber at them, which I suspect is a technical support offer which won’t be extended to the rest of WAR’s playerbase. The full exchange is immortalised in the video beneath the cut, plus lingering footage of a bond girl.

And the lingering Bond Girl footage…

Poor Bond Girl.

  1. I considered subscribing to WAR once my month was up. Didn’t though.

Come on, admit it: You’re only saying that so Paul Barnett will call you on your phone.

Ok, so how many people were too busy staring at the bond girl to read the text below her face…

Count down to “There was text?” response…

This new series of CV seems to be a return to form

Amazing, what was the music in the Bond Girl footage? I need it!

    It’s Joni Mitchell’s Shine.

This series seems heavily influenced by the “Black Episode”. This is a very good thing.

  11. Andrew says:

    Naw it’s fuckin’ no.

It’s nowhere near the surrealist bewilderness of the Black Episode. It’s very CV, though.

Bond Girls: Yes, I know people like all of them. There’s nothing ironic about that text; rock on, Consolevania.

(of course, it helps to spend time in Italy)

    Reply to Andrew

    Uh huh it is.
Watch “Checkin the forums” bit, it’s almost the exact same intro and I think the Black Episode was the first time they did a still frame and jokes about deliberately crap effects and editing.

I like the new style of season 4, suits them to have these short sketches rather than one long episode. Would love another TEAM! sketch.

I decided not to sub to WAR, enjoyed it but it needs some more work on improving the social aspect, the animation lag and the later tier levelling.

  15. Stromko says:

I haven’t been playing WAR much lately and it really has little to do with the game. I played it for three weeks straight, that’s more than any MMORPG has ever gotten out of me in one stretch.

Well I guess I did find myself at level 30 and feeling like it took too long to get to the next carrot, I wasn’t playing enough to bother joining a guild, and there weren’t enough people in the next tier to level up the fun way with RvR scenarios. In time of course, there will be.

  16. Ian Kiigan says:

Yeah the music was Joni Mitchell. And the other song is Terence Trent D’arby aka Sananda Maitreya from his most recent album. Rab has excellent taste in music!
