Hum, i could’ve bet Runescape’s earlier versions were flash… could be wrong, though, it’s at least 8 years since i last played that.

But i think it’s more of a flat-out lie by them than a typo, it’s hard to typo 500,000 into 10,000,000. And people blindly believe these things, too, more often than not. Including the popular rumor that Maplestory, the free grindfest of a guide on how not to do a game, sold for millions.

Well, I’m wondering if they made an error or something but according to mmogchart they were up to 500k with a slow-but-steady progression earlier this year, so I guess there’s either a typo or the possibility of a sudden bump in popularity…

Runescape isn’t flash, its java, However I have played other MMO-Esque things in flash that came out before Dofus, they never did get massive player figures though.

And first MMO in flash? What about run-escape? I bet it has more players than that, if they too count the inactive accounts who went a few levels and realized how shitty it is.

They may claim whatever they desire, however, i’ve played Dofus, and i’d even doubt them claiming 10,000 players.

It’s an extraordinarily lovely game. Possibly the best-looking MMO I’ve ever seen (and I’ve played a lot), though I confess to a certain bias in favor of 2D graphics.

The gameplay seemed to be exactly the sort of relentlessly grind-happy dullosity that every other free MMO I’ve ever tried slung about. Only actually a bit slower because it’s got a tile-based tactical positioning element to the fights. Which I am all for in theory, but when you’re just doing one on one fights with the local equivalent of your basic rat, and the turns are on a timer (as opposed to going as fast as you can decide on moves) and you don’t have anything interesting to do…

Blech.
