PC Gamer’s latest podcast has recently been posted. It’s a special one. And by “special” I mean “deranged”. The usual master of ceremonies, Ross “hello and welcome to the PC Gamer podcast” Atherton was indisposed. Or dead. It’s not clear. And the result was confusion and mayhem. Fortunately I was there to make this worse.
Graham Smith, Tim Edwards, Craig Pearson and little old I discuss the newer releases, and then get into what’s coming out next year. As well as nonsensical asides and what is unquestionably the worst opening to a podcast in history. You can get it directly here. Oh, and I attended last month’s too. That’s here.

Where’s Ross???
25/11/2008 at 13:55 Pags says:
I can atually hear Graham Smith’s beard. Impressive.

“I’m your host and editor” always bothered me. I mean, god knows I need an editor, and badly, but still… it’s worrysome to hear some claim that they edit me without my knowledge or consent. Brrr.

Have I been travelling in time again… I could swear I listened to this sometime last week.
25/11/2008 at 14:27 John Walker says:
You’re right Seniath. The PCG podcast link on their site isn’t updated, because they’re naughty.

Can we expect some more RPS Wireless Show then, if KG has the time to go cavorting around in podcasts with those fine gents?
25/11/2008 at 14:34 Tim James says:
ohh, i second the call for more wireless show, but this will make for some excellent listning

They need time to find more broken mic’s first. Quality static like that takes effort.
25/11/2008 at 14:42 eyemessiah says:
Great sound quality.
25/11/2008 at 14:54 Bema says:
Yeah…the sound quality is often the first and only thing I comment upon.
The PCG podcast continues to entertain me. The general feel of it all is miles better than the US one, although they still get points for being weekly. And the PCG one tends to fook up my GoogleReader-thang.
25/11/2008 at 15:22 Rei Onryou says:
I heard this last week, but I’m sure all those that subscribe to KG’s blog who haven’t heard it yet appreciate you telling them. >:)
25/11/2008 at 15:37 Dreamhacker says:
“Well, good, excellent!” :D
25/11/2008 at 16:06 A-Scale says:
I listen to the American version. I can only stand so much British accent.
25/11/2008 at 17:39 Nick says:
Damn britishers and your crazy accents.
25/11/2008 at 17:44 Muzman says:
It is kind of fascinating how no one cares about voice acting. I haven’t played Fallout 3 but is it actually that no one cares or is the acting actually marginally better than the generally abysmal standard of games voice acting throughout time? (further; I wonder what I’d think of it, as someone who thinks that Valve’s stuff is in the ‘could be better’ pile? Does this merely make me a persnickety arse perhaps?)
Anyway, I’ve never heard anyone pronounce URL as ‘earl’ without it being a joke. So my cultural life is richer right there.

25/11/2008 at 18:15 Pod says:
Boy?! What happened to Tom Francis and Ross Atherton? The show was good back when they were on it. I’m never watching this claptrap again! BOO. BOO I SAY.
26/11/2008 at 01:34 Mythrilfan says:
I’m still waiting for more info on Atherton though. From Tim Edwards’ blog: “My boss, Ross, has been taken off the magazine, leaving me with the day to day management.”
Eh?
26/11/2008 at 01:46 Chris Evans says:
I echo Myth’s comment, where is Ross?!
26/11/2008 at 01:58 John Walker says:
Ross is dead.
26/11/2008 at 02:01 Chris Evans says:
This can’t be true! I demand the truth from you John!
26/11/2008 at 02:04 John Walker says:
Dead great!
26/11/2008 at 02:13 Chris Evans says:
Now thats more like it :D
26/11/2008 at 09:36 Rei Onryou says:
That’s still not the whole truth. He’s merely pleasing us with facts. Dare they replace the editor that cheerfully introduces every (bar this one) Podcast? It just doesn’t make sense…
26/11/2008 at 09:53 simon says:
Does it have subtitles? Mutt’n'jeff, me!
26/11/2008 at 10:23 Tom Francis says:
Ross’s absence is temporary, mine is even temporarier – I should be in the next one. If Ross can’t join us, you won’t be able to tell – my own impression of him is that good.
26/11/2008 at 22:08 Rei Onryou says:
Glad to hear that Ross isn’t dead nor dead from PCG. And if he is, then the comforting tones of Tom’s impression will suffice.
The PCG podcast should have an impression section. All involved do an impression of the selected person. First time being Ross, then J.C. Denton, then the character they played with for Fallout 3! =D
