Interesting that you bring up the Marathon Universe, since the Halo Universe is an expansion (re-imagining?) of what Bungie created in the Marathon trilogy; I was going to mention that you really need to play through the Marathon games (and Pathways into Darkness, too) if you want to unravel the Halo story. Then again, that requires a Mac Classic environment, and how many machines that can run that are still around? Hell, most PC gamers have never touched Marathon, let alone console gamers. [Insert comment about the oddity of a Macintosh game developer that is now owned by Microsoft and develops only for their console]

"John: I wonder how common a theme this will continue to be - learning of an MMO’s existence after it’s ceased to be. I’m not convinced the Halo universe is nearly intricate enough to merit an MMO, but I imagine a studio somewhere is working on a new something that will endeavour to prove me wrong."

They could always use the Marathon universe. You know -- the one with an actual story, and writing that engaged rather than enraged.

I am slightly saddened by the lack of RPS personalities in either of the two RPS guilds in WAR. Snotling was, the last time I checked, quieter than a tomb and, in a paradoxical role reversal, populated by alts of people who were primarily playing in Sigmar.

Since Sigmar moved servers (to Karak Norn, factoid fans) the guild has picked up, despite being populated primarily by alts of ourselves.

Half of me wonders whether or not we should abandon an RPS guild and just join the PCG guild. The other half of me loves the fact that the ten or so of us regulars (again, in the Order guild, RPSigmar) are just so close that it would be a shame to lose our identity.

WAR has had its ebb and flow over the last few months but seems to be settling into some kind of pattern now. And with server populations settling somewhat, more fun is being had by all. I think. Certainly feels that way anyway.

I would be one of those people who doesn't know why people think the NPCs in Far Cry 2 talk noticeably fast.

I'm so relieved to read mention of the fast talking that pervades Far Cry 2. It was obvious and annoying to me even in pre-release videos. It's awful. How could Ubisoft actually release a game that... has that in it? But most people don't seem even to know what you're talking about if you bring it up. It's frightening.

Oh, The Witcher was never *perfect*, it was just a really excellent core game mired in bad translation and horrifically slow area loads. People immersed in the excellent part can, I hope, be forgiven for being a bit frustrated with people who never got past the rather foul outer coating. Which has, I hope, been fixed in the EE - having beaten it long before said enhancements, I haven't been back to it since.
