Sad that Hinterland was rather bland and uninspired, and also badly programmed, because really wanted to like it.

So, I'll keep on waiting for either a good commercial Dwarf Fortress clone or a version of DF with a bearable interface.

Syndicate to return?

I saw something the other day that probably puts paid to reasonable hope for this. Someone asked that Molyneaux guy about revisiting old games and he said two things: that it wouldn't technically be a problem, probably meaning that Bullfrog's catalogue with EA is at least on gentlemanly hold until PM decides he doesn't want it; also he put Syndicate as number two on his list of stuff he'd most like to revisit. So in all likelihood we'll not see a Syndicate 3 that doesn't come out of Lionhead and frankly I wouldn't want to play that anyway...

Hi Jim! *waves back*

I cannot wait for Thinkosium 2: Think Harder (someone else come up with the name please). More booze, more stupidity, more profanity, more RPS. Just be sure to bring some lighting with you next time.

Re: Fallout 3 DRM

Bethesda actually said it'd probably just use a disk-check, and that's exactly what it did. And only on the launcher thing.
Just because it used SecuROM to do it, like countless other games over the past howevermany years... People don't seem to understand that publishers can decide what features SecuROM uses, it's not always limiting activations and raping your sister.

I think I've made my loathing of limited installs and online activations - SecuROM or otherwise (eg. Clear Sky) - perfectly clear on plenty of occasions, but sometimes watching the fuss thrown up about things that people don't/can't be bothered to understand is depressing.

Portal prelude was great. For someone who found Portal and the Portal: The Flash Version map pack too easy, it was great and at just the right difficulty a puzzle game should be at for me.

I was only annoyed by the cutscene at the end which ran at 1 FPS on my PC and I still haven't been able to get through to this day (/me needs to upgrade).

"Clearly though, it’s the only upcoming RPG truly worth getting thrilled about at this stage"

How's that true? What about Alpha Protocol and Dragon Age? They sound better than an MMO attached to a tired setting for the sole, inevitably failed purpose of taking down WoW.

Blizzard's big mistake was framing. They went "Hey, that stuff we promised, we're now splitting it into three separate purchases!" instead of "Hey, we're also planning two expansions, and each release is going to focus on a different side!"

They're the same thing, but one looks like a minus, one looks like a plus.
