(which always confused me. Why would month be first?)

Well, for us programmers, it's terribly convenient if you also put the year first (so YYYYMMDD), because then you can treat it as a simple integer when sorting (most significant digits are first).
Apart from that, I don't have strong feelings either way, but I wish people could settle on one format. When I see a date like 05/07/08, I always have to scan the page for other dates until I find one where one of the numbers is above 12 to work out what format they're using.

Was told last year that apparently everyones got it wrong and the date is actually supposed to be described as year/month/day, but being that I've grown up with it being day/month/year, I like it just the way it is in the UK.

"The only issue is you have to stop your calender passing 31/12/2009"

I'm going to assume you're either from the UK/Ireland, or Canadian, because I didn't have to mentally convert that date into day/month/year, from month/day/year (which always confused me. Why would month be first?)

Oh yeah, and happy new years to all. Hopefully this year will be much better than last year. Although, to be honest, as a gaming year it was rather good.

Midnight found me playing Tabula Rasa and staring out the window. A neighbor had hired one of those fireworks contractor to light up the sky and make sure everyone was awake for miles around. And possibly to remind people he was irritating and filthy rich.

Still, nice show, which is a subtle reminder that like much of 2008, in the new year we'll probably be spending too much time behind a monitor playing games that both entertain and mildly irritate at the same time.
