Hi Alex. Well, we like to think it's a bit different, especially the score\equipping trade-off; I can't think of any other games which use that in quite the same way.
It's really not gory at all, just a small blood cloud effect when units are hit. You can see that to the left of the last picture in the article.
Why not give the demo a try and see if it's the kind of thing you're after? Hope you enjoy it!

Is this something a bit different - not just the usual gorefest that people seem to be happy making now?

That's a good point, Scandalon. Yes, if someone buys the PC version of the game, they'll be able to download the Mac version (and the Linux one when we do it) for free. They'll just have to provide their unlock code. We'll put some more info about it on our website and blog.
If you've found the article interesting, we've also been keeping a developer's diary throughout the whole process - that's on our site too.

They mentioned Myth in the interview as inspiration, that gets an auto-demo try. And they're porting to Mac. That's like +2 right there! Color me interested - I'm posting mostly so I might remember this... /me goes to website to see if I buy copy now if it will let me DL the mac version when available...

l1ddl3monkey says: " Imagine if someone had asked a question about download speeds for the Crysis demo - EA would probably have sued them for defamation."

Excellent!

I remember playing an earlier demo of PA on RPS' recommendation. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

The article neglected to mention this is a British independant developer. Had to go to the website to discover that.
