It does look very generated in that second picture. Not necessarily a bad thing, but that second picture doesn't look that good to me.

Of course, that's about the only critique I've got. We need more procedurally generated content in games, it's a.) a huge time saver for the developer which enables them to work more on gameplay (eye candy is overrated these days) and b.) if done correctly ads vastly more to a game when you think about stuff like open-ended games, changing seeds over time and so on. There's a world of unexplored territory over there.

Anyways, I am very much looking forward to this game.

"Well basically we needed an excuse for the weather to have gone to shit so we picked on global warming to explain why many of the areas you visit had to be abandoned."

I love this =D

Ok, I have no idea how I managed to screw up my post that bad but the link should have read Road Trip, and nothing else.

Aww, such a nice world.. with cars and all.. Why couldn't they have made it an RPG instead, almost like the old PS2 game ? That would be my dream game.

Road Trip game was awesome as you'd race your way around the world, but also visit towns, solve quests and (most importantly) upgrade your car as you won more and more races!

I love the idea behind FUEL, but I think it's going to be repetitive just having races in that gigantic world. Just like Test Drive Unlimited and Burnout Paradise were..

It sounds really good.

I like the way they're just free-styling the scenario to create the gameplay they want rather than tying themselves to an arbitrary wannabe Fast-and-the-Furious story, or Championship Racing.

- Racing across ruined cities and awesome weather is cool: Let's say it's post-apocalyptic.
- Driving to a garage is lame: Let's say you have a transport helicopter.

But, it would be nice to get out and walk for the immersiveness. I am not a car, I am in a car.
Imagine if your walking character had a parachute: it would be basejumping game too. Drive up to a cliff and leap off!

One of my favourite gaming things ever was doing the whole mountain run in SSX3 so things like this always sound appealing, but it has to be designed to be fun and slightly OTT whichever paths you choose. If you have such a vast area it surely increases the risk that much of it will just be dull, or at least not as exciting as it could be?

@Schmung
Any development team that actively encourages dicking around is A-OK in my book.

Agreed! Can't wait for this. I've put in a lot of hours into TDU and this seems to be the real next-gen (in the real meaning of the phrase) successor.

Ok. Sounds good.
I'd like to see them reusing that engine to make a Interstate-style game next.

This game looks sweet.
The title made me wonder if you need to locate and manage Fuel, Mad Max style. I guess not?
The only thing that could make this game better is perhaps some crowbars, lead pipes, chains, maybe a .45 with two bullets left.
