Massive Entertainment have released quite literally several videos showing in-game action from current World In Conflict relaunch-and-not-expansion-as-such, Soviet Assault. As you’d expect from this most beautiful of real-time strategies, it’s heaving with detonations and incinerations. Having spoken with project lead Mr Jansen over the weekend, I’m actually pretty keen on getting this out again around the time of the next patch, and getting some multiplayer going. Anyone find the love in WiC multiplayer games?

Hey, the trailers inspired me to want to give it another go, I just don’t really have a team and/or friends willing to buy the game, and it’s not too fun if you’re not playing with people who’ve heard of teamwork. The “unspoken communication” is nice, but that doesn’t really make up for asshats and 13 year olds yelling at each other. Maybe I’ll dust off my copy tonight, it’s amazing when you can get balanced teams, even losing is fun if you feel like you were able to put up a good fight.

Ah, WiC. I always got stomped in WiC.
It was always a bit of a laugh, though.

I will pray for the lives lost on teh first video (our boys, lol, no the enemy dudes), taking that highly armored base, ….only to finnally be destroyed by carpet bombing. What a waste of lives for notin.

I like the looks of the infiltration mission in the last video. WiC would definitely use more missions like that.

This is looking increasingly like a buy for me…
How does the matchmaking work in multiplayer? If you buy though Steam can you set up games with your friends through that?

No, all matchmaking is done through Massgate’s service. You sign up for an account through the games multiplayer tab IIRC.
