Open world racing game FUEL has us moderately excited. Not full-blown hype-arousal, but a mild kind of: “Hey look at that”. To find out why this is you should probably read our interview with Codemaster’s producer chap. If you’ve already been there and done that, you should click to the video below and raise a sceptical eyebrow at the claim of seventy vehicles being displayed therein.

Geez, terrible choice of music.
Game still looks somewhat interesting though.

Still looking fun but I’m unsure about 70 vehicles.
I expect some of them will be different in purely cosmetic ways.
report
Is it anything like Burnout: Paradise’s 70+ vehicles where half of them were just reskins?
I really want the hovercraft.
report
70 vehicles isn’t actually that many – off the top of my head I could probably name 25 classes of vehicle I’ve seen in these trailers, and a few more I haven’t seen yet. I don’t expect many palette-swaps.
The only worry I have left about this is the physicality of it. A couple of hands-on previews said it lacked handling ‘feel’, but that was on an alpha months ago and the cars seem to have very nice contingency in all the vids they’ve released of this.
report
They’ll have about 5 different variants of cars, trucks, bikes, quads etc, then they’ll just be customizable.
It’s like Fallout 3′s supposed 240 endings or whatever stupid figure they gave out. One day a game will promise something impressive and actually deliver.
report
Please have the satisfying ‘chunkiness’ of feel as DIRT and GRID! And lose the appalling music PLEASE!
report
Needs more ekranoplan.
report
Hah, the music sounds like something my sister would listen to. It does remind me of Burnout a little as well. Looks like good fun though! Good, clean, fast-paced fun.
report
A pity no one seems interested in giving us as many vehicles as in Gran Turismo 2 :(
report
Its a number on the fucking box, the hovercraft seems nice though.
@monch you can always mute the music.
report
Eww. The music reminds me of Flatout on the PC (few months ago I think). That game kinda sucked.
report
Looking forward to this. Didn’t expect as much variety in terrain and setting as the trailer showed. Very much on my watch list, but not sure what platform to get this on at the moment.
report
reminds me of 1nsane crossed with MotorStorm crossed with Powerslide.
I’m in.
Horrible song for that video tho.
report
More pivot-based goodness from Codemasters, hooray.
report
I actually quite liked that song until the guy started singing.
Anyway: Big trucks – YES!
report
Fingers still crossed that this is TDU taken to the next level, and not something Burnout-esque.
report
So long as one out of the 70 is fun to drive/ride, I’m in. I don’t care about racing — I just want to drive all over creation.
report
Terrible, terrible music, worst trailer so far but still an awesome looking game. Me needs another racer since I completed burnout paradise.
report
“Fingers still crossed that this is TDU taken to the next level, and not something Burnout-esque.”
Dear god yes! I’m up for a TDU sequel or something much like it!
report
Burnout Paradise got over 75 vehicles [in diff. versions]. So, no problem for fuel.
report
Looks a lot like MotorStorm, to be honest. Granted, MotorStorm had a much better soundtrack than this.
report
Awesome. And hey! Supercharged Combi-van at 0:38! Sweet!
report
Looks great, I’m curious about this one
BTW, did someone already mention how horrible the music was?
