well i have been playing since the start of beta. football is good but only when u get to high level since the better players are regulars and have good levels. u need to get to lvl 30 about to get good practise enough to play a decent game.

PMC’s (player managed clubs)mean that low levels can play with high ones and learn. the game is great, stick with it!

I had the pleasure of being involved in FS since closed-beta started.

The game has developed a lot since those early days.

There are still balancing issues needed, and they are being addressed.

For new players, the play control may seem ‘clunky’, but as you develop your avatar you will find your character becomes more fluid.

If you try this game, forget about fifa/pes. They are arcade football games, fun; but very much unrealistic and automated.

Football Superstars is the best take on football as a game ever designed.

Tis true, that FS club matches can be horrid. That’s down to the players (and one or two game mechanics).

It’s free, it’s worth a try.

Ensure you use the forums, and jump on live chat. There are plenty of people that will guide you through your first steps.

Hrm, i gave this a bash this evening, and the actual football part of it on first impressions is very weak. Maybe it gets bit more involved as you play more and I like the concept enough to give it a bit more of a go.

Oh, and perhaps the most worrying thing of all is that, despite being in open beta, their PR folk told me they’re not planning to make any further significant changes before release. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be public knowledge or not (or indeed whether it’s correct), but it’s relevant.

The issue I continue to take with Football Superstars is that, while the idea is fabulous, the game just doesn’t work in any coherent way. The matches don’t function anything like the actual game, in either control or the rules, and the social and economic sides are both underdeveloped and mechanically fucked. I really wanted to love it, being a rather avid fan of both videogames and foot-to-ball, but I just couldn’t. The game wouldn’t let me.
