Battlefield Heroes has teased us a few times, but this time it seems to be with us for good. The beta’s in full swing, and you can sign up for it yourself at the official site. In fact, there’s some in-game footage to watch. Watch it you shall, if you’ll only click on below.
Gosh, so, what do you think? Do you like the shooty men and their slightly more proper weapons? TF2 comparisons are an inevitability, so bonus points to people who go beyond. Also, for extra fun, read the chat on the video. It’s mostly people complaining about how long it took them to get onto the beta, which amuses me.

Just a thought for all the people unhappy about the length of engagement in combat, play as a commando. You can take people out pretty fast. And then go invisible. Commandos are such bastards.

Serondal, I’d strongly advise you from leaving wherever you are right at the moment. Reason #1 if you find your homeland “socialist” then you will find most of europe to be basically communist in comparison. #2 This might bring you closer to my current location which is a rather worrying thought.

Might be a beta typo but the guns have a weekly and a permanent version that costs like 100 times. Clothes too i thought. The permanent items simply don’t mention time period.
I like how they run up to each other and just shoot each other faces until one of them dies. It’s like a console shooter. Pro.
Yeah but like i said. Play as a sniper and its very different. You die fast and you kill fast. Moving from cover to cover under cloak avoiding larger groups and picking off stragglers. Its akin to crossing tf2’s sniper and spy but in massive open maps. Played like that the nonsense they are trying to sell in the video doesn’t wash.
IMHO, your role as a commando is to place a rocket in other people face or foots, and use the splash damage and phisics on your adventage. Mastering rocket jumping can move you to imposible areas. Of course, you need to buy the rpg weapon first..

So they took everything that I liked about Battlefield 2, set it in “done to death” WWII, gave it worse-than-TF2 graphics, added a “pay for hats” scheme, and then removed everything I liked about Battlefield 2?

I was in the early, early beta, and the game was, well, pretty terrible. First, there was no invert mouse option. Then there was the awful animations. Then there was the fact that it was absolutely impossible to see what was going on. Then there was the whole “BF2 meets TF2″ thing, without the charm of TF2, nor the ‘realistic’ *snicker* aspects of BF2.
Basically, it’s Generic Shooter 23892 – cartoony!

Doesn’t look all that fun. And it doesn’t really seem like a TF2 ripoff.
I’m not digging how long it takes to kill people and I’m still not sold on the 3rd person view.
