It’s a national holiday here in the UK, so the Hivemind is in the “off” position. We’ll be switched back on tomorrow. In the meantime we suggest you go and play Spewer, the new platformer by Edmund McMillen and Eli Piilonen. In it you control a tiny creature that uses vomit as propellant. We think you’ll like it.
Direct download here.

“We think you’ll like it” – as if we all have some sort of vomit fetish.
Downloading now.

04/05/2009 at 14:20 Rei Onryou says:
Alas, my EEE could barely handle it. It was vomitingly good fun though.
PS: I hate vomit. (not really, but the spewer reminds me of Francis)

damn forgot I needed to go back >:(

Great stuff.

That was fun, got a bit repetitive.
Isn’t it bad karma to post a direct download link?

I’m getting shades of Boogerman and Fart Blaster here. I’ll have to check it out when I get home from work. Happy Holidays! :)

So we get a free day the first of May as the “Day of Workers” and UK gets a free day for something called “Bank Holiday”.
Sounds scarily appropriate :P

Puke? Platforms? Sign me up! I’ve always wanted a job cleaning railway stations.

Thats rather childishly fun, in a grotesque sort of a way.

While those of us in Japan basically get a week off due to a whole bunch of national holidays. The so-called “Golden week” =)

I must say that I do love the animated background of the scientist going about his work. It’s the little things…

This the Portal of games-about-vomming.
Lovely physics, sexy aesthetics…Goes far beyond its gimmick: I’m impressed.

In other games-related news, the Plants vs. Zombies advanced preview email just went out a couple hours ago. Downloading the demo now.
So take advantage of your holiday, and remember that brains are quite high in cholesterol.

This is fantastic, though the “air puke” levels are much more difficult than the “plain” puke levels.
Also, +1 Alex

It did indeed. And was very very fun. I’m waiting for the full game to unlock on Steam now before saying more about it.

Someone needs to show this to Charlie Brooker. A very sadistic someone.
I didn’t extract it and got to chapter 4, thus losing all my progress. Which sucks.
I suspect I’ll replay it to the end though.
04/05/2009 at 17:43 Z says:
You can still register for advance access on the popcap site, apparently, which will also get you access to a timed demo. Which was quite fun. It kicked me out near the end of a tricky level, though.

Oh, Holy Tears, I hate you forever.

Runs like ass on my machine. Still, I appreciate a bit of fluid physics now and again. Anyone know of any other games having fun with watery type stuff, where water isn’t just a flash gimmick? Google seems to delight in finding me tech demos but no actual games…

I have an exam tomorrow, so I suspect I’ll play this through to the end.

U.S. Banks are on Holiday too. Unfortunately it seems to be lasting more then one day.

Very cute, cheers
Also, does anyone else think that in the splash screen the little vomit sperm thing bears an uncanny resemblance to Jimmy Carr? (albeit with soul patch)

I think this game should be retitled ‘Kirby’s Binge Drink’
04/05/2009 at 21:19 Dead Fish says:
Awesome game! It’s a bit easier than Meat Boy, but I wish I could skip past certain stages. Currently stuck on one of the last ones. ;)
04/05/2009 at 21:25 Mad Doc MacRae says:
Currently getting my ass kicked by the chapter 4-3 (I think) where the lava vomit drops down and you have to hit the switch and return. Any tips?
04/05/2009 at 21:46 El Stevo says:
The col det on the spikes is way too overzealous, and it can be really unresponsive (maybe just because it runs like a dog), but it’s enjoyable nonetheless.

What a lovely game. ^^
04/05/2009 at 23:13 Dozer says:
I’m stuck somewhere in the third or fourth chapter, a level called “a gentle push”, where you dislodge the fruit with the red vomit then have to jump to the exit at the top of the map. Can’t jump that high though! Very frustrating.
04/05/2009 at 23:34 El Stevo says:
When you jump hold down the up key. On the second jump you bounce a little which gives you some extra height. Spew downwards as soon as you hit the ground after the first jump.

05/05/2009 at 04:39 joe says:
I ragequit on the 39th level just cos I kept accidentally dying on the spikes. Very neat little game though, thx :>
05/05/2009 at 05:49 El Stevo says:
The last level is a complete dastard. And then you unlock the bonus levels. I admitted defeat at this point.
05/05/2009 at 21:56 Muzman says:
Seriously, I think the guy might be able to sue
06/05/2009 at 01:57 mike says:
For long jump, fill the spike pit with vomit then swim across. Took me way too long to figure that out.
