I made the mistake of buying Dark Sector. What a truly rubbish game it is. Its a bad console port to the PC. V. linear, not that great looking, lots of annoying quirks designed to make it harder for no reason. The designers got too cute with the glaive and forgot about the rest of the gameplay.

Defence grid is awesome for less than €5….
After showing this game to 6 people 100% of them went straight to Steam and bought it and one of them was my girlfriend! :-D

somewhat on-topic:

this feature of RPS is fantastic. since i got hooked on buying things that dont physically exist, i always get home from work on fridays and load up firefox with six tabs: steam / gamersgate / gog / d2d / impulsedriven / ageod.

its a really great thing that RPS does with this weekly round-up so that everyone can get a taste of the beautiful smiling-smugness that comes from getting good swag for cheap.

@damien Thanks for the input re: D2D. I’m going entirely by word of mouth and things I’ve read, so I’m happy to take your experiences into account. Honestly, I’d like to have D2D as an option, they run some great sales and it’s always a good thing to have additional options. Given the patch issue I think I’ll take your advice and give them a shot if they have an older game I’m interested in for cheap.
