Backgammon rocks, especially with some sort of gambling (even if just for points rather than actual money) thrown in - great blend of strategy and luck; same thing which makes poker such a good game (and poker without any betting pretty much the dullest thing imaginable).

Toonu: These are pretty much improvised exercises. I've mostly had the idea of what I thought interesting when I played the game, but a lot is close to stream of consciousness.

(And thanks)

That again, was a great read. Does your brain just work like that and then you write it down and it comes out like something interesting with a POV that maybe somebody hadn't thought about, or do you work at it?

A Maltese friend taught me to play Mancala in Canterbury. He kicked my arse repeatedly, but I improved somewhat and almost won a game later. He was very good at it indeed. I have a set now, it's a great game, but never really capture my heart like chess did. Largely because I'm so bad at it - its counting-based play just made getting good at it beyond me, whereas I'm good at spotting patterns and maneouvres. Great game to play over a drink, though.

Accessible and entertaining physics based Indie mod of Dominoes: http://snipurl.com/jkt30

I think I'm going to have to change my name after the Ludo piece lest I incur Kieron's wrath.

One would like to rescind one's previous statement. One feels one has placed too much emphasis on the supposed superiority of kebabs over all inhabitants of the pizza kingdom, when this actuation was merely coincidental.

Some people really get into their Dominoes, like Caribbean people who really slam them down.

What is this with exploring games like this though? Everyone knows that Rock Paper Scissors is the greatest game ever as it is the one that gave rise to the mighty RTS which is the highest form of strategy known to man.

Fives and Threes. That's how nana used to score dominoes when I played with her. I thought she was making it up.

Bantumi is the only thing I miss about Nokia phones.
