The game is totally worth the $5 if you’re into that sort of thing. The demo really only establishes the game’s style, it unfortunately doesn’t demonstrate its main gameplay all that well and it couldn’t really, without being the entire game. :) Needless to say, if you at all appreciated the style/feel of the demo, then the full game will be worth it.

Has STALKER become a new benchmark for PC performance?

I mean, my rig (as the kids like to call it, I believe) is over 3 years old (and wasn’t “all that” even then), can more or less run STALKER (although my framerate regularly drops to a miserable low) and has no problem running Blueberry Garden..

What does it all mean..?

Wedge is pretty much dead on. It was very nice, but I mean this in the most limited sense possible. $5 is not much money, and there still isn’t enough substance (intellectually, aesthetically, whatever) there to justify it. Hell, $3 for Windosill seems more justifiable. Everything meaningful and magical about it could be seen in the trailer that was released a while ago, and it delivered basically nothing more.

Beat it in an hour or two – only got one crash, and slowdown when the terrain moved. Is it just me, or did the terrain-movers seem kind of…useless? I kept expecting to be able to use the terraforming to solve puzzles. Regardless, quite a fun little game. Worth its five dollars, I say.

Bought it as soon as I saw it released on Steam, and pretty much immediately regretted it. It’s easy to see why it was released out of nowhere without any hype or previews, as this is the kind of thing people normally release as a cute artsy Flash game for free online. Except this one seems to be horribly unoptimized and plays rather clumsily.

How it won the grand prize at the IGF is well beyond me.

I mean it’s not a terrible game, but it’s really nothing special with everything else out there.

Add me to the pool of people with very poor framerates but decent system that can run stalker & such.

In this day and age even the greatest indie cred and hype won’t get you far without solid execution.. Jonathan Blow delayed the PC Braid for a reason ;)

It’s okay, nothing incredible. 5 bucks/euros seems about the right price.
