Flight simulation needs more men like Michael ‘Lotus’ Johnson. The maker of Elyonim, the only sim film that ever made me cry, has spent the last fifteen months fashioning his first FS add-on. Going by the post-jump trailer, it was time exceedingly well spent.

Wow that was a cool vid, and I’ve never even played a flight sim! :o
23/08/2009 at 10:31 DigitalSignalX says:
… WOW indeed. Beautiful video. No idea what a L-39C is.. but I suddenly *really* want to fly one.

Not a flight sim fan but that plane is a beautiful looking piece of technology and that looks like a superb flight sim.
And I liked the music. Zoia Vitkovskaia, apparently.

“The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia…”
Very nice, the rain on cockpit effects were good.

That’s the worst X-Wing I’ve ever seen.
23/08/2009 at 11:11 Caer says:
The first thing I noticed about that video is that the planes don’t cast shadows. It looks weird.
23/08/2009 at 11:29 wat says:
Caer: That’s probably caused by the FSX settings of the guy who filmed the footage though, as FSX supports both ground shadows and self-shadowing for aircraft.
23/08/2009 at 12:11 MacBeth says:
Wow… beautifully made. Nothing asploded though :(
Incidentally there definitely were ground shadows on the desert racing sequence.

@Zerotime:
That’s the worst X-Wing I’ve ever seen.
On the other hand, it’s a fairly passable Z-95.

Oh well, I’m sure Edit will be back some day.
23/08/2009 at 13:40 DMJ says:
Well, that was interesting. I never “got” the flight sim thing, but that was a thing of beauty.
And what’s that about shadows? I clearly saw shadows on the ground towards the end.

I like how the Albatross doesn’t evens how up until halfway through the vid.

Monkey the song is Gabriel, by Lamb.
Am I a cold hearted husk of a bastard man for finding this video more amusing than anything- a sort of po faced love story with planes? And an impressive engine?
Tell me, was the love all about the people in the planes or the planes themselves? Eh? Eh? Were the people flying, or the planes? Imagine the pilots, screaming and unwilling inside the cockpits, as their planes drag them round on an ill fated love affair like some flying metallic conjoined twin? Eh? No that’s ridiculous.
23/08/2009 at 13:58 Flappybat says:
Very good but ouch, 40 euros for one plane?
23/08/2009 at 14:49 RiptoR says:
No problem, mister Stone :)

I think the last flight sim I played was Flight Unlimited, or maybe Janes ATF, but this vid made me really want to dig out my old flight stick.

15 months? On a single plane? Really?
23/08/2009 at 21:10 Kanakotka says:
Not to mention, that single plane costs nearly as much as the entire game…
23/08/2009 at 21:14 Kanakotka says:
(i want that edit button) No, wait. It costs MORE than the entire game. http://www.amazon.com/Flight-Sim-X-Gold-Pc/dp/B001DPZE84/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1251058426&sr=8-1

Probably the best payware aircraft I’ve ever flown. Fantastic stuff from Lotus. Can’t wait for more aircraft from them!

Man.. sent a shiver down my leg sorta like the way Obama gave one to Chris Matthews from MSNBC….. wow…
24/08/2009 at 03:37 Thiefsie says:
That is one cool video… and that isn’t Gorecki last time I checked.
What is the shroud/canopy to the trainee pilot? A way of making them fly by dials??
I love the air race bit at the end.
Still a non-combative flight sim would be a little boring for me.
24/08/2009 at 04:19 Muzman says:
The video up there isn’t Lamb. The downloadable “Elyonim” machinima aeroplane romance short thing is though.
I was wondering about that shroud to. Maybe they have to use the force.
24/08/2009 at 04:56 Snuffy (the Evil) says:
I love FSX, but I hate how all of the good downloadable aircraft cost more than the entire game.
24/08/2009 at 05:05 Vinraith says:
The plane modeling looks spectacularly well done, but as a non-FSX owner I have to ask if that video is representative of the graphical quality of the game as a whole. Have ground textures in flight sims really advanced so little? Or have they just got them turned down, there?
