There’s a new demo of independent sim X-Motor Racing out, featuring increased simosity. Most importantly, when Jim looked at the original demo way back in the prehistory of RPS, his main wonder was when the damage model was such an important part of the game, why wasn’t it in the demo? Well, apparently, it’s now in the demo. Go bust a fender today. Is that right? I’m no good at the foot-to-pedal automobilular games for real boys. More info on their site, and some footage follows…

You are Jeremy Clarkson.

So, the strengths are the physics and damage model. And the trailer shows…a car driving along in pretty much a straight line. Um.

I want to play a racing game with the physics of a PGR title, the open world feel of . . . whatsitcalled, that one set in hawaii, and the damage model of I don’t know what but it crumples realistically, brands be damned, and affects the handling appropriately (hic!)

Needs more explosions for you to be Jeremy Clarkson :)

They should make the cube map on the car update faster, it’s really distracting when it keeps popping like that.
As for the game, I know this sounds harsh, but I really don’t see a reason to get this over competing titles… other than the fact that it’s indie?
Of course, it does show pretty well here.

that one set in Hawaii is Test Drive Unlimited

Downloaded the demo.
Drove at 200 miles per hour into a wall. Suffered no more than a slight dent. REALISM!

Silly Brits driving on the wrong side of the road.

you know I always found it odd, even with all of the bells and whistles like HDR, car reflections, bloom, ect this still looks a lot worse than GTR2
