DIY Big Daddy Suit

By Jim Rossignol on September 9th, 2009 at 5:47 pm.

We usually steer clear of the arts and crafts region of bloggery, but I’ll make an exception for the link Dartt just forwarded to me: How to make a Big Daddy costume in a whole bunch of fairly complicated steps. Amazing, ridiculous stuff. Compare and contrast with 2007′s costumes…

You would have to be very strogn to be able to walk around with that thing in your shoulders.
Also, the girl on the left looks awesome.

This guy was at DragonCon in Atlanta over the weekend and I had a chance to see this costume first hand. The thing is amazing looking – and HUGE. Also the drill spins. :)

I saw them at Dragoncon too, and yeah, when that drill spun, people went nuts. It was pretty amazing.

When you are up close to it, it is pretty intimidating. Just awesome work.

I think my favourite ‘touch’ was the animatronic arm that he can grip with his left hand to maintain the correct scale. Just great work overall.

If you think it’s looks good in public, you should see what they do with those costumes in the bedroom!

That is absolutely awesome. I’m comparing it to my little figurine and its really accurate. I wonder how long until he’s hired for BS2 marketing.

’tis very nice. The Portal gun is great too. Bit disappointed he didn’t make indestructo ankles for the missus as well though.

Huh. I’d never made the “(Alice’s) Little Sister” connection before. “Down the rabbit hole,” indeed!
