Adblock disabled, Flashblock disabled doesn't change anything. The "loading" frobber in the center never finishes to load. Same experience with FF 3.0.14 on Linux. I seriously don't understand what I'm doing differently than everyone else. :/

I don't get the trailer to work, and I can't find any other video source (not even the sega home page has it). Gahhh! (Using Windows XP, FF 3.5.3, Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32)

ill be buying this for just the marine campaign, and so that colonial marines gets released sooner. Sega has admitted to holding colonial marines until after AvP. Depending on how AvP does, they will either hold off or release colonial marines soon after.

As far as I can tell, this looks promising - it certainly looks like they haven't screwed up yet, anyway (because, let's face it, you're starting with marines, aliens and predators. Rather than be geniuses, you need merely not screw up to make an at least decent game out of that). But it's hard to really say, since it looks like that showed almost no real gameplay footage at all. Cinematic trailers are a massive waste of time in games, surely.

nah. the problem with alien 4 is 1 thing. joss whedon. He had 1 hell of an acting cast to work with, but his attempts to be edgy and stylized and basically joss whedon the hell out of an already established series caused its death before its time.
I would totally run him over if i saw him on the side of the road, we are better off without him making craptacular tv shows and movies.

I was going to reply, but OH DEAR I AM A SPACKO CONSOLE PERSON duh duhh. Seriously, I wish people would stop this ridiculous format snobbery. It makes you nothing but a marketing tool. Games are games, stop dividing yourselves just because you use a different lump of plastic to play them on. You don't see hardback readers sneering at paperback readers.

I think the point was that in the first and second, the aliens were cunning, intelligent, 'sneak up and suddenly bite out your hippocampus' creatures (though less so in the second, admittedly). The one in alien cubed (sorry, I don't work in marketing) was basically a very fast set of claws for the most part. Which isn't a criticism as such - I'm not that bothered and thought the problem with the third was mainly bad writing - but it seems a fair distinction.

I think I get what you're saying. The first one was terrific, but attacking the marines always felt like you were tearing through wet paper, and could simply dash through a crowd with your claws stretched out and everyone you touched would instantly collapse. The second was a worse game overall, but the heavy, solid feeling of the enemies really made you feel like you were ripping chunks out of them until they couldn't take more, rather than simply walking around with a finger of death.

actually. the alien in the first 1 used stealth to kill. it wasnt a war machine like the alien 3 alien. But on the other hand, it was a different breed.

the aliens in part 2 were going up against things they had never encountered before. it took them just a little while to overcome.

The reason aliens are so fast in the game is because they are scarier that way. they have to be fast other wise we will kill them like l4d zombies.

Too far? Alien³ went back to the roots of the creature where one could fuck up your entire day whereas Aliens just turned them into cannon fodder.
