I got the hardcover off Amazon…It was a good read, but slightly schitzophrenic in my opinion. Never entirely sure whether it was aimed at gamers or the layman…it was often to complex for the latter, and if it was aimed at gamers, you’re preaching to the converted :P

I just checked my University’s library catalogue and they have your book in stock. Going to take one out on loan tomorrow for a read. I’m studying in RMIT in Australia, if that makes anyone suprised.

The book was rather promoted into academic circles – being a University Press publication – when I am not really an academic writer as such. The negative opinions don’t surprise me. I mean, hell, I’ve spent months and months with it and so the problems leap off the page for me.

This Gaming Life is one of the books I really, really like in my library. It seems to split opinions quite a bit as many expect it to be a study of sorts, but it seemed to talk straight to me. In a sense I felt like having a dialogue with myself. I really don’t expect it to be to everyone’s tastes, but for thirtysomething “core gamers”, definitely.
