It has to do with how much they're prepared (and allowed) to undercut publishers and distributors in Australia. Because the retail price of Australian games is A$90-100 (or around US$80-90!!!) online distributors have limits placed on what price they can sell online for to prop up the Australian retail market.

It looks a little silly at the moment because the Australian dollar is so strong. The obvious answer is that retail prices for games in Australia should be plummeting as the dollar rises...but why do that when you can blatantly profiteer? It wouldn't surprise me if Australia was the most expensive games market in the world right now.

Man that RFG is great stupid fun. I'll mirror what TotalBiscuit said above: Every game from here on needs to have RFG physics. Love the way the tall towers collapse and crumble, just like you'd expect them to (mostly).

I've only rented RF:G on console so far (got too many games to play as it is right now), but I found it became much more fun after I changed the difficulty to Easy. Until then I was dying every time things started getting good. I think I expected it to be as easy as Saints Row or Mercenaries. It's also got some frustrating bits like when random resistance guys join you, they slow you down and get killed if you don't babysit them. If you want to be a one-man army (as I do), just play it on Easy.

The EADM and Steam keys they sell don't seem so bad because they get plugged in to a download manager service that gives you the game. It's the games like Call of Duty 4 / WaW where you get a key and nothing else - useful for people who own the original media, dodgy for people who don't and just want to play for cheap. I am one of these cheap CoD players, and it's worked fine for me so far *touch wood*.

I have resisted buying anything for two of these now. YOU ARE WEAK, MISTER P.

Although I would totally cave if they get round to releasing Car Wot Goes Fast for under a fiver.

GamersGate has RFG for US$19.99 also and is purchasable at that price from Australia.

Not that I've ever used GG, does it work similar to Impulse? The help section on their site seems a little lacking in the specific details (but maybe I'm, blind).

As long as you're comfortable in the legally grey area they operate within. They even admit as such on their own site: "So when it comes to legality you are probably on the edge but you are definitley not beyond it.". While I agree with the start of their statement, the later is very open to interpretation, considering how you may have to acquire the actual game itself to go with the code they sell you.
