Aaah! I love the smell of nostalgia in the morning. Perhaps marginally more, even, than i love trotting out overworn and barely appropriate movie quotes. Regardless my interest in a game i never finished 1st time round has been reinvigorated. My archaic PC at the time - powered by the shackled souls of the damned, rather than an actual graphics card - choked and came juddering to a painful and v e r y s l o w o n e f r a m e p e r s e c o n d halt when i reached the snowy levels..

So instead of spending the evening being left 4 dead i'll reinstall NOLF2 and bask in the sillyness of it all. nice one, Walker!

@Karry:

Uh, no, TRON is interesting visually, but crap in gameplay.

No way. TRON 2.0 was pretty awesome. I do agree we could have done with less jumping puzzles, though.

Of course, NOLF was also awesomesauce. NOLF 2 not so much, but still good. Contract J.A.C.K. was mediocre, though.

And from F.E.A.R. onward . . . meh. The Monolith of old is gone now.

My brother had NOLF 2 years ago - that was an awesome game. The arch-villian was about 7 foot tall and wore a cloak which covered half his face and all his body right down to the floor Crowning moment was when the Scottish guy rugby-tackles him and the cloak falls off... and then the obligatory vehicle chase scene happens, except your vehicle is a child's tricycle with Scottish Bloke pedalling and you standing behind him with an SMG...

One thing that is often overlooked is the multiplayer for NOLF 2. Forget the guns, it has bananas, glue guns and robot kitties!

Not a lot of people play it these days, but if you're interested, you can find more info here

There's a number of specific coop missions that came with the game, though I believe there was a mod that allowed you to do the entire game in coop.

Games like Team Fortress 2 and World of Warcraft have proven that style is much more important than polycount. It also makes it seem less outdated later on...

I don't think you can call J.A.C.K. an actual sequel. It uses the NOLF 2 engine and even a lot of assets and it has a completely different tone and main character.

I played the second one then the first one. I suppose really you should take a look at number 1, and if the graphics seem acceptable definitely start there. If on the otherhand number 1's graphics are too painful, perhaps it would be okay to skip it.
