Oh, I’m getting wise to that Magitech now. Strength & Honour 2 is a rome-period wargame which has a new – gasp! – 1.7 Gig demo available to download. I glance at the screenshot and think… isn’t that the same engine of all those Eastern-set games? Why, yes, that’s what it appears to be. Which I thought when looking at their Takeda 3, reminding me of Sango 2. It’s the icons at the bottom that nail it. Anyway – I’m digressing. Interesting points? Well, rather than being purely Western-Europe-centric, it models as far as China if you fancy going all Alexander The Great.

I understood virtually none of that. I must be going soft in the head. Too many burgers in the 80s, no doubt. I blame John Gummer.

Totally wish Total War ever went as far as including China in anything.

Man, if Total War modelled all the way to China, I’d play it a lot mor–darn it Dorian. I read your post as I was typing. Then again, I wish for a RotK game that models as far as Europe…But no, that’d just be silly.
But anyway, yeah. Looks pretty cool.

Unfortunately, though, I cannot stand the artstyle. So I’ll be over here, praying for somebody to mod a full map of Eurasia into Medieval 2, or something.

Anyone else notice that it is only Keiron’s posts that anyone has trouble parsing?

Some of his posts are a little more stream of conscious than the other threes, but I’m still able to parse them perfectly.

Thanks for the link. I’m downloading the demo and it looks like my kind of thing. But please sort out your English. ;)

If you can get past the graphics these are good games. I played the demo for Takeda 3, was initially put off, but as I played more I began to see the depth available – it is a smarter game than Total War from what I can tell – I have been waiting for this one as I am more tempted by the larger scale of this than just focusing on Japan. I would recommend giving the demo a go if you like this kind of game and can live with Shogun style graphics.

That answers my question – whether these games are actually any good. The eye candy I can take or leave. The brain-dead AI in the total whore series alway left me a bit underwhelmed.

Wow that’s a clunky interface.
Someone needs to make a Sword of the Stars for the middle ages.
