A lot of people pointed this out to us. It’s an impressively well-done animation-insert of the Team Fortress 2 cast into the trailer of the recent Law Abiding Citizen. Next up, we request the introduction of Pyro and Spy into In the Mood For Love. Yeah, you heard. Until then, you’ll find Law Abiding Engineer below…

Should have replaced the rocket shooting thingy with a sentry. And the daughter with a dispenser.
03/04/2010 at 16:15 LionsPhil says:
Yeah, it’s a shame they missed the sentry trick. Otherwise, those, great compositing. There’s some background cloning work in there to allow for the spy’s spindly frame, apparently, but it’s not noticable.
“Pyro and Spy into In the Mood For Love”
That pairing, at least, has been done in animated form:

Oh, derp, Related Stories. I’d missed that RPS hadn’t missed it.
02/04/2010 at 18:13 Russian Drink says:
This was an incredible piece of work. I hope Valve sends the creator some TF2 swag.
02/04/2010 at 18:13 Edib0y says:
Awesome!
02/04/2010 at 18:16 Spoon says:
It just goes to prove that TF2 characters make EVERYTHING better.
02/04/2010 at 18:18 Bob says:
Some people have way too much time on their hands! lol
02/04/2010 at 18:21 TCM says:
That was something impressive.
02/04/2010 at 18:38 Inigo says:
Engineer got REVENGE on Heavy
02/04/2010 at 18:50 Davie says:
That was so cool.
My congratulations to the creator on making something so awesome.
02/04/2010 at 18:50 Vitamin Powered says:
That…
…
…
I’m just going to mumble something about magnificent now, because that’s about all I can manage.
02/04/2010 at 18:52 Gorgeras says:
I DEMAND the entire film is remade like this.
02/04/2010 at 19:10 Veret says:
“I solve practical problems!”
The whole video was ten kinds of awesome, but this line at the end just killed me. I do love it when people mess with context…
02/04/2010 at 19:10 Man Raised By Puffins says:
Blimey, I’d quite forgotten how silly Hollywood thrillers can be. Lovely work.
Also, the “spies are a dime a dozen” guy should have been a Scout or indeed a Spy disguised as a Scout.
02/04/2010 at 19:39 Heliosicle says:
Do it valve, you know you want to pay this guy to make an entire movie out of this!
02/04/2010 at 19:56 droid says:
And Valve also needs to add a “I’m gonna bring the whole system down on your head” line for the engineer.
02/04/2010 at 20:06 DazzeL says:
Absolutely fantastic!! I checked this out briefly on my iPhone whilst at work. First thing I did when I got home….
…..checked this out on the bigger screen. Awesome stuff.
02/04/2010 at 20:13 Shadrach says:
Wow this is very well done, but why on earth do it to that appalling piece of excrement of a movie?
02/04/2010 at 20:25 Flowerpot Wang says:
I actually just finished watching Law Abiding Citizen a few seconds ago because of that trailer.
Then I went onto RPS, and this was the first story.
Creepy.
02/04/2010 at 20:38 DW40 says:
That was soooo much better than the movie.
02/04/2010 at 22:53 Lack_26 says:
So, bets on how long until this guy gets a job at Valve?
02/04/2010 at 23:53 Wisq says:
Regarding the original movie: To this day, I still find the typical disconnect between trailer quality and movie quality (judging from the reviews in this case) to be rather amazing. Obviously a trailer takes all the best moments, but it’s still hard to imagine how they can create such terrible movies and make them look so good in trailer form.
But yes, I would totally watch it if they remade it with TF2 characters.
03/04/2010 at 00:10 Soobe says:
It reminds of why trailer suck: they give the entire movie away. Seriously, after seeing that I’ve already seen the movie. Not like that stuff would have been too surprising if I hadn’t seen the trailer, but at least it keep me guessing. Now it’s pointless.
Hey trailer maker people: don’t give it all away!
03/04/2010 at 01:33 Guy Cole says:
There’s actually a ginormous twist at the end that they don’t give away, so don’t rule it out completely, Soobe.
03/04/2010 at 00:45 K.Boogle says:
Lol, that looks so much more badass with those engineer goggles than the original movie!
03/04/2010 at 01:48 tWot says:
Video is total WIN!
Brilliantly done!
03/04/2010 at 03:53 Brad says:
That was bad ass!
03/04/2010 at 05:35 Jayt says:
full length feature please, that was amazing!
03/04/2010 at 10:41 The Dark One says:
The effort to make this was probably huge, but the movie itself seems so loathsome that I didn’t want to watch the while trailer.
03/04/2010 at 16:20 LionsPhil says:
“I’m just getting warmed up.”
Well, on the up side, at least the writing in games no longer compares unfavourably against the writing in films.
03/04/2010 at 11:34 Forceflow says:
That was awesomely done … the lighting must have been a bitch to get right!
03/04/2010 at 14:56 Tei says:
I really like how this is somewhat a reply to the “Meet the spy” and “Meet the sniper” (?) videos. It serve the purpose to show the engineer profession as something awesome. And in the game.
03/04/2010 at 18:22 Alfax says:
This guy will work at Valve in like 1 month :P
What a brilliant piece of work this pal made! Once Valve sees this and thinks abou it, the guy will be working again in a TF2 movie :P
03/04/2010 at 19:50 tikey says:
Every movie should be remade with the TF2 cast.
03/04/2010 at 22:02 Fatchap says:
This.
04/04/2010 at 00:35 Kelpie says:
Fantastic. Loved it.
Great idea, and executed perfectly.
04/04/2010 at 12:27 Dan says:
The twist at the end is *terrible* though – like they ran out of ideas and just had to end the movie.
04/04/2010 at 12:37 roBurky says:
Clearly, the judge answering the phone ought to have been the pyro, complete with muffled TF2 voice clip.
05/04/2010 at 14:26 DMJ says:
I eagerly await the next logical step: an entire season of 24 remade with TF2 characters.
06/04/2010 at 09:15 billyboob says:
My fave is “It’s gonna be biblical”. WTF does that even mean in this day and age?
